It's just different approaches with different goals for the sport.

A mate of mine used to play pro paintball and moved to airsoft because he was getting a bit old and he likes the toys more. He can still out shoot almost anyone on site, his snap shooting is awesome, as you'd expect from paintball. You get a certain amount of 'people' who feel closer to real soldiers because they put on the gear.... each to their own i guess.

although I have made some airsoft guns, I have never played. I doubt I will either, its ok, just......... not my sort of thing, plus some people take it a bit seriously and probably spoil it. I think it would be ok if you were all mates.

Running around in woods shooting paint at each other = Woodsball.
Playing on a symmetrical field of bunkers with 5 v 5 = Sup air.

Sup air is more of the professional side of paintball as you win trophies and in the higher leagues such as PSP (US) and Millenium (Europe) you can win some nice cash

well, i suppose its only as good as the people your playing with really, when i went airsoft a lot of them were just annoying idiots..

likewise one time at paintballing standard ones, the opposite team were just complete annoying idiots, and i almost hit a guy in the face, i did control myself though and just walk away, however i do regret not hitting him in the face..

I havent got the time or money to do sup air, although from all the videos i have seen it is fun, but the speedball map is nice, i do like a bit larger woodland map, so you cannot see the sides/corners of it, so you can do flanking and such..

Must admit, I always had more fun on days where we'd organised a group of us to go. 10 vs 10 & what not ... do I sense an OcUk airsoft/paintballing summer?

You get mentalists in both sports, neither is indicitive of the norm. Most of them on our site are Asian rude boys that look like they'd get split in half by the paintball.

We have 4 - 5 of us mates that play all the time together, then when doing bigger mil sims or away games we'll team up with the sites home team. Definatly better playing with peeps you know, never trust anyone else to have your back!

paintball gun is better than a keyboard especially when someones mask comes off

Haha , ACUK used to be my regular forum years ago before I found this place.

I still have most of my airsoft kit which has not been used in years. I have a ca m15a4 carbine, tm m3super 90, 3 ksc glock 19s, 2x tm hardkick deagles and a few other bits and pieces. I really need to get round to finally selling it.

However I would love to try playing again. Are there any good sites near Bristol?

ACUK closed down last month, the owner didn't fancy carrying it on. No massive loss tbh.

I do airsoft once a month or so, probably a bit less these days... groundzero, the rock, blox generally...

Most games the marshalls are very good at picking out the odd person who doesn't call hits and they are swiftly removed from the game - same for disruptive players.

The great thing about airsoft I find tho is most of the players are really laid back and friendly.

Paintball has to be gay tho lol... the outfits, the guns and the playing areas all scream it before you even meet the players.

For me, airsoft will always be far greater than paintball due to realism, and if you play with good people you will never have to worry about people not taking their hits.

have a look at this, its one of the biggest and most realistic airsoft games in the world, and it is FAR beyond anything that could be done in paintball.

The tank may look like a silly toy, but the event itself is huge and well organized. As with any sport there are some who just want a quick mess around, and there are those who really take it seriously.

I havn't played airsoft myself in quite a while, the local place near me when I started closed down, closest place now is Dover, but i don't know anyone who plays there, and it will be a pain to adjust my AICS so it doesn't shoot too hot for the site.

I have played some airsoft sim's when i was younger though, most of them tended to be similar setups to Counterstrike hehe

I had a friend who was over the top into Airsoft. Then one day I introduced him to my shotgun and rifle collection, took him clay pigeon shooting and then to Bisley to have a plink on a 7.08mm Remington.

Needless to say he sold up the airsoft...

Its all a laugh really.

But its probably the same gayness as them guys who all dress up like G.I. Joe or action man and run around shooting little kids toys

There's quite a few EBB ones out now, TM make the M4 SOPMOD (rails and all sorts of crap on it) and the SOCOM. KA make some blowback galils and sig 55*s i think CA make some. Star had the L85A2 (SA80) but its ****. Those are all electric. Gas pistols are fine but SMGs like you say ***** their ammo quicker than a 16 year old virgin.

The few Gas rifles i've tried have awesome recoil (always will be more than electric) but less than awesome accuracy. There are upgrades but gun + upgrades + mags = a lot of dosh.
