Akasa 62 Eclipse

The Ambers are just about the best, what I use and they beat the £22 SilenX fans I had before, but these unbranded £28 fans I have used were amazing, think they were made by ADDA of all people, but not really any better than the Ambers, especially for the price.

Anyone else seen the Akasa Mirage review in this months custom pc.

Same as the eclipise but with a new front, the review says the front is alu i think, but its definity a new design, google should help for more info.

I've done a search and the front looks kind of nice. Can't see it in this month's custom pc though - I have April's edition? Where is it?

Ahh i remember seeing that before, i was hoping you meant a similar front to the eclipse but brushed alloy, that would be my dream case. Ive seen a few pics and it does look fairly nice, from the pictures Ive seen it looks like aluminum.

The p180 though is known after 6months / 12 months to commonly have the door warp, or bits fall of it.

A review would not show that up. Why I do not trust them at all for cases, unless the same system is in each, and the person reviewing has used the case for at least 2 months I will not even accept any of there findings. I have been burned by un-informed reviewers before and it is not nice.

Everything with cases is comparable, much the same as if you have only used a Qtec PSU you will think it is the best, until you try a Seasonic. With cases there are no benchmarks, so reviewers give out high scores and good build quality comments all the time, my old Xaser 3 Skull is testemount to how inacurate they can be.

Not that much of a dig on the mag, but more of a beware of what people say, your opinion on a case is worth 100000 reviewers, as it is yours that is the one that counts.

No, the PC7 series is Lian Li's entry series, they are basic no frills cases, but done EXTREMELY well, built to a very high standard and offer the potential to cool any system.

Not quite as good as the V series, but they are great cases.

OK.

Forgive me for so many questions but I have never built a pc before so am a little nervous about what to actually buy.but appreciate all the help here.

As I see it from the advice so far we have a short list it seems of the following cases for my home gaming system.

1.Akasa Eclipse-62 or now Mirage(just a different front I beleive)

2.Lian Li V-1000 plus (1100 much different)?I think the 2000 is probably bigger than I need?

Should I take a look at any others?

Thanks again for the help.

Well, good shortlist and you have listed all of the cases that I consider to be the best of type out at the moment + PC7.

Any of thoose will be superb, the v2000 will be too big I am sure, and the v1100 looks different, has slightly worse cooling on the hard drives but is more aimed towards the silent PC market, although some good fans will make more of a impact than the v1100's design.

thanks Yewen,I read in another thread where you said this

With a SLI rig in the v1000+ you REALLY need to use what Lian Li say for the fan positioning, otherwise you will create a oven.

Is this something I should worry about as I eventually hope to have a Sli setup ? and what is it Lian say about fan positioning please?

So I am feeling close to making a decision between the V1000+ and the Eclipse,

knowing I am a bit green what would be your choice for me ;) ?

thanks
