Akasa 62 Eclipse

Finally ordered an Akasa Eclipse 62 with a window and a couple of Ambers. I think it was this case all along for me, but it has taken me so so long to finally take the plunge and buy it. I will now spend my time deliberating over which monitor I would like as my next purchase.

I have never deliberated so much over pc components before, but cases and monitors seem to have occupied me for months!

Thanks for your help Yewen, I think you helped me make my mind up once and for all!

Good Luck Slippy with the case, that's on my shortlist too.I know what you mean about deliberation on cases lol.

Yewen,I forgot to ask about Stevo's question about the Asus board not fitting in the Lian v1000+.would it fit in the Eclipse and is this a common problem with the Lian, seems strange that Asus should make a board that doesnt fit??
thanks again

so I hope your not supporting Reading just cuz they goin up lol?

I think Im favouring the Eclipse slightly as there seems plenty of room for working on stuff,am I right?

Cheers (how long since you left leicester?

It does fit, just it is upside down in the V series, and as the northbridges cooler is based on the principle heat rises, well with the motherboard upside down it wont, so will be very toasty.

Basically for SLI you need the rear 120mm fan as a intake and the blower fan (supplied) as the exhaust, all there is to it.

Just seen sooo many people complaining with it and having the rear as a exhaust and not using the included blower fan; sorted by that.

The Eclipse may be a better choice if you are going for SLI and that motherboard, but remember only buy a case for SLI if your buying both cards at the same time, in 12 months time one card will beat SLI, making buying the second card not very cost friendly.

As much as I love the Lian Li cases, if I was you I would go for a PC7 or Eclipse, more suited to the motherboard you like.

I choose my motherboard based on the case, well what did you expect! I went for a Gigabyte K8N Pro-Sli passive and works in the Lian Li. :)

Yewen,
Thankyou once more for your time and patience.

To be honest that wasn't definately the board im going for but was just concerned if there were any other popular boards that wouldnt fit.I dont know what board to get yet as I wanted to get the case and power supply first.

I am not going sli right away but wanted a board that would give me the option later if needed.

Do all the power supplies work with the v1000+?

Being a newbie builder maybe the Eclipse with its sliding Mobo and slightly bigger size would give me a bit more room to work.

Also whatdoes a passive Sli board mean?

No worries, if I didnt want to help people I would not bother posting, I have my msn which I am on while active on the forums aswell if you want anything cleared up :)

The v1000+ has Lian Li's typical great thinking, as the motherboard is in its own compartment it gives you more room than in the Eclipse to work with, and it will fit any ATX motherboard, mATX motherboard and the v1200 supports e-ATX. So if you stick to them you will be fine.

The PSU, with a modular PSU you can fit 3 hard drives, anymore and the modular PSU would be full up and you would not need one to save on cable clutter.

With 6 hard drives, only a non modular PSU will fit, but if you have 4+ hard drives a modular PSU is pointless, so this again makes sense.

When looking at a powersupply for any system you buy now, remember to make sure it supports ATX 2.0 or higher, just so you know it will work with everything :)

Nah, still look out for Leicester but don't follow them that much. Left Leicester around 1994 - so quite a while. Still go back from time to time though.

Slippy how u getting on with your case,my eclipse came today,I also got 2 ambers for it?

Yewen can you recommend a mobo for this case.
amd
not sure wether to get a board with sli ready although i dont think i want to so maybe a non sli would be okay, eitheran asus msi or abit/
cheers

If it is the v1000+ you are looking at them I can recommend the Gigabyte K8n pro-sli motherboard, its passive and has been rock solid stable for me since october.

I have not used any of the other current motherboards by the manufacturers so do not feel completely comfortable recommending you something I have not used for any length of time.

Post in the motherboard section and I am sure someone will give you more comprehensive advice than me.

Well the the Asus A8N sli premium was a good motherboard for me :)

It is not so hot in the v1000+ but in a Eclipse it is a very good board.

My Akasa 62 case came yesterday and it looks beautiful. It's massive and I'm impressed. I bought a couple of 120mm ambers to go with it as well. I'm going to do a refit at the weekend when I have some time off.

Can anyone recommend a good method of getting rid of dust/fluff on components? I know some suggest cans of compressed air but I don't know where to get these from.

You bought an akasa in the end then snake? Bang on ain't they?

Competitors would stock compressed air, and also hobby shops.

Other than compressed air there is not much else I have tried with any real success.

Ok thanks, I'll have a look. Prob expensive for what it is tho. Could do with an air line...

A air compressor will do the job, just can be a bit to harsh on the fans, so stop them from spinning, same goes for compressed air.

As making the fans spin the wrong way round is not good for there health.
