Akasa A-62 AMD x6 *Zosma* build

I've come to the conclusion ZZZAC that you are one of two things, you are either...

The unluckiest guy to ever buy PC components... or... you are a genius.

*IF* you are the unluckiest guy to ever buy PC components, then my advice to you is to stop farting around buying from e-bay and buy from OCUK or any other reputable PC component company, where their stock is tracked and WILL be delivered usually on the specified day.

*IF* you are a genius, then I applaud you for one of the best windup's I've seen in a long, long time, to have a 'build log thread' last 13 pages, get banned and suspended numerous times and still be allowed to post is what can only be described as amazing.

Either way ZZZAC it's been an entertaining read and I 'doff my cap' to you, well done :D.

unfortunatly its the first one, but im also a genius because im a idiot ;)

I may be old but I know the phrase well.

I was once like you many years ago, bloody minded, stubborn, didn't listen etc, and I found out things the hard way and to my cost, now I read peoples advice as it's free, sometimes its not wanted or needed but it does have one advantage, its usually 99% correct and most importantly, it saves you money.

Yeah, im slowely turning in the right direction, or trying, but im just a bit thick sometimes, doing things like buying a cpu that wont fit :L

How are you slowly turning in the right direction?
You have a none existent build.

because im actually taking things in. yeah the 940 was a bit of a impulse buy, and it was described as "ddr3 compatible" , i knew am2+ don't have ddr3 capability so thought it was am3

I would have already ought the advised cpu "AMD Phenom II 955" if it wasn't for getting in contact with the scammer.
So, how am i not taking a step in the right direction

well, ive just got that refund from the 940 accepted, and sold a psp, so overall ive got £100,, but im not doing anything until i find out what's happening with the zosma chip

I almost bought a 940 for my AM3 system a few months ago never knew it was AM2+ I though all the AM2+ chips were 9xxx etc. So don't worry Zac your only as daft as me... hmmm on second thought worry a lot :p

made my day
no updates so far
tommorow im going over a mates and rebuilding his machine and fixing his gpu psu and stereo amp... if all goes well
and since the inlaws our down i wont be able to get in contact with the guy about the cpu until Monday most probably

It's ZZZAC remember. :p

He's obviously got this on repeat when he's fixing things.

made me laugh that did, well most gpu's are easy, and have a very good effect if you do it *all* correctly.
I also have a old heat-gun i used to use re flowing xbox's. Its all the same, and ive never ever had a reflow that failed, and ive dealt with quite a few rrod's.
as for the rest of it, soldering and troubleshooting internal componets such as caps, transistors and stuff is one of my strong sides, and i only gained interest when dound my amp had a leaky capacitator, its easy stuff realy. Im not claiming im a ninja and everything always goes to plan, But i almost garentee you that tomorow i will repair my friends 4850, and maybe his amp and psu.

Oh dear, you're not about to do the cowboy heat-gun fix on MM products and re-sell for a profit are you?

no, not cowboy fixing mayte, i am in time going to get a proper reflow gun, and all the rest of it, but at the moment me and my friend valentine are having a lil experiment see waehter the fixes last and what's best to use
so far we've found liquid solder flux very good :)

Gpu has blown caps, and we mabye need to oven bake it afterward, overall sucsses :D

guys, say hi to valentine, my good friend :D
as for THe "Zosma news" all i can say is, he claimed hed try and email us when and if he tracks it, but so far... nothing, so we are going to rinf him againon Monday morning

There is a time and a place to buy stuff off ebay. This is not it.

Are you ever planning on starting? I'm doing a build log soon aswell, let's see who finishes first :p

i have started, i just didnt bother taking any pictures, and nope, im not starting on this thread, i think ot make things easyer ill make a new thread and get rid of this one.
There is a time and a place to buy things of the bay
today i bought a x-fi titanium of the bay... it cost me £6, instead of the £60 it would have cost.
Thats because it was sold as untested, and seriously, what can possibly go wrong with a sound card?
It wont loose connection under the chip, because if it ran hot enough to it would have a heat sink, and other than that its capacitors and resistors , and there easy to replace, especially if you have a big soldering kit including all you need :D

Forgive my skepticism ZZZAC, but the seasons have changed and still no final PC

BTW there is lots that can go wrong with ICs that you can barely see, let along fix with a soldering iron, although I hope you strike it lucky.

yes, that "can" but what's the probability that i a x-fi someone gives you or you system pull isnt working, even being untested, the probability is it will work.
Would you sell a item you have not tested as working? ...i dont think so

Question is, are you using high quality caps or some Chinese tat? :p
made me laugh, actually i genuinely do know what caps to get, Solid are best if they are available in this country to order, but otherwise go for long life caps, and to give it extra protection the best idea is to get caps rated for higher volts

E.G my friends gpu has 2 bulged 1500uf caps @ 6.3 volts, as we couldn't find solid caps we ordered 1500uf caps @10 volts.
All the voltage rating on caps means is the amount of volts it can take before blowing up or "bulging", and manufacturers use cheaper caps at the minimum voltage they need to make production cheaper. So in the long run were getting caps that can withstand any spikes rather than the ones that obviously couldn't.

Would I sell an item that's as easy to test as a sound card as "untested" and get FA for it? No

"Untested" is eBay parlance for ****ed most of the time :p

Hmm ever though someone may have the sound card lying around and have a system with no pci-x1 slot in? :D

some people really shouldn't have computers, let alone try to build one especially after 14 pages and countless other threads giving them advice on a forum with so much knowledge as ocuk
it pains me to say this, but the purple shirt brigade exist solely for people like you ZZZAC
what really is the point of wasting all this money and effort on what you misthink could be, when countless hundreds of people who really know have told you go with what is

"people like me"y you dont know me, just because im not a absolute nut-job that thinks its okay to spend a unbelievable amount on brand new parts because they trust them more, i have had lots more experienced than you think dealing with electronics, before starting computers i was charging £20 a hour on reflowwing xbox's, i gave them a 6 month warranty, i had not one returned, i have a proper soldering kit with a 100watt gun, a 25watt iron, a magnifying glass, and flux.ect anything i could need, and am able to resolder "ROL" ring of light led's on xbox's, and those led's are tiny to even hold them you need tweezers. im not a genius with circitary, but i know what and how to do things that cause most faults in tech, just you watch, that x-fi will work!

you've posted here since december 2010, and i remember your first post, about building a computer, and 8 months later, you still haven't ?

experience dealing with electronics?, really........
so everyone else that has up until now been proven right, is wrong?
and your a genius, because after ignoring 8 months worth of advice, you still dont have a quality rig, but continue to galavant around with this frankly stupid build log,
you do understand the meaning of ' build log'
yes.......
it means a log, of what you have done, or are doing, with pictures,
not some random trash thread about you ignoring advice from those that clearly know better , then spouting your own trash about how your so great and everyone else, who have built countless machines are wrong?

your 14 right? lol
Firstly my age is none of you're concern, im 15 anyway.
Yeah, we all know ive ****** up on the occasion, and the only one piece of good advice ive ignored is the one about not getting that msi board, am i right?
i got the recommended 5830 in the end, and i know ive got a icute psu, but until proven otherwise its a good psu.
and yeah, i dont have a good quality rig for a number of reasons, i don't need a good quality rig, itd be nice, but its not needed, and ive got most of one righ beside me, its not that i havent built a computer, its that i havent built one that functioned for more than a few days, after all i had my octo core running for just over a week, and that had serous problems, instability, ram problems, and windows wasnt even using my second CPU, , but i still made profit out of it, those cpu's cost me less than £80 and i sold em for £225, one thing that never fails to ammuse me is peoples ability to get annoyed with someone about a "build log" and still listen in and follow it ;)

and you dont belive me about being able to repair things, anyone send me something, i will fix it, and send it back for postage and the cost of the component? even a gpu with artefacts? anything? just so i can prove im not as useless as you think?

No offence, but you are 15 I know people whose job is to fix problems in very complicated technology who have been doing it longer than 30+ years and they wouldn't touch Xboxes because their design is so awful. They will only take a risk if something is mega cheap and they have done a repair many times or if someone else is paying.
I bought two non-working Xboxes for £5 and "re-flowed" them and added my own cooling fans and they have worked for months but it is not the most technical thing to do, soldering caps is easy it's the micro-controllers and other tiny fragile components that are tricky. I ordered the parts for my new computer yesterday and I'm hoping for it to be fully working by the end of the week.
Nothing against you but I have to say you need to listen to people and be more patient, rushing into something is not the way to do it right, and with such a wealth of experience on this forum it is very easy to get the answer you need.

what tricky parts like urm, those realy tiny ring of light led's on the xbox i mentioned yeah?
and most of the time its not the tiny parts that go wrong

Ok, i'll take you up on that offer. I have a dead graphics card - completely dead and I haven't tried fixing at all, but I guarantee you won't be able to. Pay postage to you, i'll send it to you. If you can prove you've fixed it with pics and handwritten notes and hovis, I'll give you £30. Agreed?

sounds like a fair dael, so im paying you the postage to get it to me and then fix it with proof of repair, with pictures, and a note in every picture with my user name and you're? and if i fix it you'll give me £30? Done deal my friend!

oh, and i never said i could make it work as a business, thats why i gave up with the xbox's, im mainly doing this for my own benefit tbh :D
