Akasa Eclipse 62's Club... Desktop & Machines.

Also plugged my front 120mm fan to Motherboard and it did run very slowly.. then plugged it to molex connector on PSU and ran perfectly...;) Seemed not enough power was getting to fan from 3 pin Motherboard connector..
in mine its the opposite, front fan is connected to a 3pin-molex converter on psu, my rear fan is connected directly to a 3 pin header on the motherboard. sometimes it takes a second or so to start spinning. was thinking of moving it to another 3 pin-molex and hiding the cable below the psu.

Hi,

I now have my Akasa Eclipse setup but think I may have a problem with the front fan.

The rear fan spins at around 1270rpm and the front one only spins at around 720rpm. I'm not using any kind of fan controller and the fans are plugged straight into the motherboard.

Anyone else notice that the front fan spins at nearly half the speed?

Also has anyone else experienced side panels that are so tight that it really takes a lot to remove and refit them again?

Thanks for your help.

I suspect this is because you may have the front fan plugged in to the cpu fan connector.... Your motherboard may thermally throttle this connector so when the cpu is cool (i.e. in the bios) it reduces the rpm of the fan to reduce noise.

Try switching them round and see if the rear fan runs slower. Alternatively disable fan speed control in the bios.

Everthing is plugged in the correct places.

The rear fan plugs into a 3 pin connector called SYS_FAN1 and the front fan plugs into SYS_FAN2 which is a 4 pin connector that I have a 3 pin fan on.

Is there any advantage in having a 4 pin fan at the front? Whats the fourth pin on the fan do?

Hi guys here is my eclipse, nothing special, having seeing your cases i might have to get the maxi window and get some UV on the go!

Welcome to the club :D

PS - I have now finished stealthing my rad with mesh, and i've made a rather spiffing mesh FDD bay cover that works a treat. I'm at a LAN all weekend so going to get someone with a good camera to take some nice night pics so I can show off :D

Looking forward to seeing your creation HeX..

I just had to post this.

My Eclipse.... a year on.

I've had my Eclipse almost a year now and finding my case getting louder by the day.
My Eclipse is located in my front room and noise wise is very quiet. I have two 120mm fans front and rear both on a fan controller. I find the sides of the case rattle almost all of the time. This can be muted for a while by either taking the side panels off or slacking off the screws slightly... but the noise comes back.

I've just recently re-located by case on the floor. The case now makes a humming noise which is very slight but very irritating. I have rebuilt my rig a number of times. All of my fans are attached with rubber gromits.

I've had three cases in the same location/position with the same internals and never had such a issue.

I know I'm not the only one, Tom84 mate, show your face! :)

Anyone else?

Other than that, I can't fault the case for space.

Had my Eclipse for over two years and never had a problem with vibrations or humming noises from the case or panels... Just make sure panels are locked in place and case thumb screws are finger tight.

It's your hard-discs not the fans. Bungee mod the discs and I can all but guarenty that all vibration/rattling/humming noises will disappear.
