Akasa FINALLY answer the prayers of case enthusiasts!!!

Looks nice and all but @ £140 definatly hard to wallet shake on that one cos I know a Lian Li case would equaly be as good if not better ;)

I disagree with that, most of lian li cases I've worked in aren't as solidly build as the elipse/mirage/omega, chassis material is thinner...even around the 100-140£ mark. also silver insides make me sick :D powder coat it you cheap ********!!!!

Does anyone have any idea if Akasa will make an alloy fronted eclipse at all? I think that Omega is great but not really a fan of doors on cases. I'm seriously considering getting one for my main rig and using my eclipse as my backup.

They will probably get round to it in a few years :D....seriously 2 cases is a lot for them i'm sure they all need a holiday now.

man who would pay 140 for that plastic thing i thought its 20th sentuary not 90's . in saying this my case is a crapy to but antec 900 looks even better than that and its cheaper some glosy cases with ok cooling and desing would be nice

Thinking of getting an omega as i want to move to watercooling what rad would you recemend for fitting in the top mount. also would there be enough room for this room + watercooling cpu only.

I will agree the Eclipse has always been solid, my Lian li A07B had slight thin panels, however there was no denying the Lian li won in pretty much every other area, the size/scale and cooling capabilities and looks just outclassed my Eclipse62. But the 62 does have few better features ;)

Its not a bad case at all the Omega...Id still consider it ;)

Yeah they arent all bad, I dont really like the way they churn out case after case though. Think they must a computer program now that just designs 100s at a time, occasionally changing a couple of lines here and there :D

Its swings and round abouts though, things I don't like about the akasa cases are...

-The sides aren't a great fit at the back
-Prefer an alu black finish rather than paint on the inside
-Plastic clips that hold the door on are cheap

I'm thinking about getting a lian li case again though, the thinness does put my off but I'm interested in seeing some of their 150-200£ cases.

Looks liek the omega has come down to £120 in a few places. Luckily I requested a refund as I thought it was artificially high for launch.

£120 is a lot more like for that case. At that price its easily best in its class and keeps it away from the £150 boundary where cases get very serious. Having said that even with a £200 case budget I'd still get the omega, I'd have to factor in £30 though for a lian li ex-33 hard drive bay so I can remove the 3.5" bays.

Yep should fit fine, the omega is the same case as the eclipse/mirage, just has extra vents on the top and side and a redesigned front.

Many thanks, I thought as much - they've got exactly the same dimensions, just wanted to make sure! Cheers :)

Richdog, if you leave your external drive plugged in permanently why not just fit an internal drive instead?

Because I move it around to different machines and share it with my dad/friends? It can stay in my computer for days at a time, but when I need to move it there is no beating an external drive for convenience. I just find it a bit odd to have it at the front as it would look untidy there... but I guess you don't have to use it. :)

ooooh plastic clips on the front panel..... that would be a no no for myself, while not a fan of front panels anyhow I still remember my Antec P182 the 1st day I had it... I went to push the door back heard a lovely snap and it fell off.

I still feel it would have been nicer if Akasa redesigned the front but just not plastic and better design/looks in proportion to the case itself, its like building and engineering a BMW and then putting a plastic logo on the front ;)

Gonna be on the look for a Lian Li next I reckon :)
