I did try and put it as speculation as the last thing that is needed is someone saying its fact when it quite clearly isn't. Relationships between the two sets of supporters is bad enough as it. Thank god we dont play each other again this season thats all

Very true, my mistake, I should have checked before responding, apologies :o

No reason, just reacting like you did when I was saying I was rather happy when old smudger almost ruined his career :)

Meh, thought as much.

Dont think my wording was quite that abrupt though.

It was on Talk Sport this morning that police are review CCTV footage outside the ground after the game. Apparently the Ambulance taking Smithy to the Hospital was stoned and pelted with bricks. Once in traffic they attempted to turn the Ambulance over.

Even the bitterest rivalry should know some limits

**** me.... That's above and beyond football. I've always tried to stay divorced from the whole hatred of Liverpool fans thing, but I'm beginning to understand it a hell of a lot better even when I know this lot, the lot who sang about Riise breaking Smudger's leg and Hillsborough are in the minority.

Why am i not shocked? What goes through the 'mind' of these people?

Its getting old now, if it had been the other way around there would've been a set of Man United fans doing exactly the same thing

Throwing excrement on away fans ????. I disagree entirely. Yes we have some idiots who follow UTD but throwing cups of carp on away fans is just out of order.

Part of the rivalry between Utd & Liverpool is because of some of the things that are done and said and then completely denied afterwards

Yes, i believe that had the situation been reversed there would've been a small minority of utd fans (its not like ALL the liverpool fans in annie road upper dropped trowel and crapped over the side, it was a minority) who would have done the same thing, its a bit naive to believe otherwise.

(If you can call these people fans)

Call me naive as much as you want. I've been to many games at Old Trafford against Liverpool in the Cup and I can assure you it hasnt happened. Of course if you can point me in the direction of any Liverpool fans who this has happened to then I stood to be corrected.

This is one of the reasons for the hatred between the two sets of fans. How they are with us is completely different than we are with them

Im sure at Old Trafford opposing fans arent placed above or below each other, because its much better laid out (and has greater capacity), so there hasnt been the opportunity.

To say the rivalry is because Liverpool fans are worse than United fans is ridiculous, i heard all the songs the united fans were singing at anfield, so i have no doubt theres groups of fans at each club who are just as bad as each other.

Your entitled to your opinion. This is the reason for the main rivalry. Liverpool fans always claim they never got the recognition for what they achieved in 70's & 80's because of Manchester United. The press always gave Utd more news coverage. They claim that this is all because of the Munich Air disaster. Hene their readiness to goad Utd about this in the 70's & 80's. Come to Old Trafford and sing their sick songs wave their arms as in the fashion of an Aeorplane crashing

Livepool then had their own tragedies in Hillsborough and Heysel. However all the sick chants of the past years about Munich were quickly forgoton and suddenly stopped. Thats why Utd always sing to them at OT "Wheres your famous munich song ?????" The minutes silence for Emlyn Hughes's passing & Hillsborough have all been impecably observed at Old Trafford on every occasion required. Yet the silence was broken for George Best. More sick songs on Sat about George Best.

Your right of course that each group of fans are no better or no worse than the other

Although this doesnt make it right i think George Best is a different matter, although he was a great footballer, hes long since lost my respect and im sure many people feel the same way. Man United fans on saturday were singing "should've been another 96" and many other songs covering Hillsborough, Heysel and Michael Shields and this was seemingly the whole allocation as they were all clapping along, it wasnt just a minority.

At the end of the day we could go back and forth, there'll always be a select group of fans from both that will push the boundaries.
