Alder Lake-S leaks

Some cool features on the Gigabyte board that has no mention of on the Asus, forgot to mention specifics earlier that some may find useful like I did: The main one for me is the fans off feature when below a certain temp which can be tweaked in the BIOS. The GFx already does this anyway but nice to see I can do this with the case fans too so when just using the PC browsing or watching stuff it's virtually making no noise other than the AIO pump. That's neat

Question regarding the M.2 heatsink on the board, does it have thermal pad you can cut out? I intend to use it of course but only have the pad contacting the controller on my 970 Evo Plus and not the flash chips themselves for obvious reasons. I have never used a heatsink on m.2 before so not sure what to expect.

Linus really likes the 12600k. Calls it a generational leap over the 5600x for roughly the same price. The benches also show decent power consumption and thermals for gaming.

12900k gets a nod as well but it requires lots of cooling when it gets in a plus 200w situation. On the gaming side it is faster than the competition and thermals are fine.

All in all it’s a very positive review with the only caveats surrounding the price of the motherboard and ram and the thermals of the 12900k at full tilt (not gaming). He rates the 12600k as the price /performance win.

It's a shame he didn't mention what thermal grease was used, granted he did state the cooler which was a Noctua air jobby but he also said that this cooler beat most water coolers too so who knows lol.

I'll be running the Arctic Freezer II with Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut so am expecting heat control on the 12700 to be better than an average setup.

Just watched the Linus video , the 12600K looks to offer a stunning price/performance ratio especially for gaming needs. The new budget banger :D

This seems to be what we have right now for gaming power draw figures from independent reviewers. For context that puts the 12900k power consumption slightly below the 5950x numbers (and dropping below the 5900x often) and the 12600k slightly above the 5600x they are comparing it to.
It isn’t a very in depth review, so there is more to unpack, but the embargo ends soon. As I said before, the tone of the review is very positive.
