Alien Isolation - possible compatibility hack on the way

Makes me feel sick unfortunately. Shame. I was able to crank ze graphics up also. Looked amazing. Then my head felt like it was on fire

But sent the Dev 10 bux for his time and efforts

Hey guys.
Just got my new pc up and running and installed AI with v4.0 of the mothervr mod but I can't get the game to display on my monitor as well as the Vive.

If i try to launch the game via steam I get an error message saying it can't launch and the only around it is to go into properties and disable "use desktop game theatre while steamVR is active"

After doing that the game will run in my Vive but won't show on my monitor.

Any one know a fix for this?

New version released recently and the longest I've been able to play it thanks to snap turning.

Amazing game and almost unbearably tense and scary with VR.

Playing it through last year following a guide... Guide tells me not to worry the alien has buggered off, go play with the door...

10 seconds later Mr nasty drops in, I freeze and it stares me down, it charges me, I close my eyes. It was a pure doctor who jump behind the sofa moment. The tension is incredible in VR, you'll jump at the slightest odd noise you hear.

The positional audio for the alien is incredible too on the Rift. You can hear the position of where it's moving through the vents. I know they sort of fake that, as it's not really in the vents when those sounds are played but the illusion is really good.

As you say you jump at every noise. A couple of times I've taken off my headset saying 'nope!' when I hear the alien up ahead. No other game has done that to me.

At the risk of regurgitating an anecdote, one of my most vivid VR memories is playing AI with a buttkicker, and the sound of it in a vent next to me coupled with the thump of the buttkicker has seared that moment into my brain like no other (and that was back on the DK2).

It's still the most intense and immersive VR game I've ever played.

Looks like another update is arriving soon, the following was posted on Nibres Twitter page on Nov 9th -

So here's a progress update with how the next MotherVR release (0.8) is shaping up. I anticipate releasing it by Thursday, after I've spent a little more time on it (though I'll try to keep you posted here if any of that changes).

What the update will include; In-game MotherVR settings menu, new VR Controller Input (with matching UI!), new Mirror View, visible Intro+Loading screens for SteamVR, force-quitting and auto audio-device routing for Oculus, and more random improvements.
