Alien: Isolation Trailer

Ah right, thanks! I sort of headed in the wrong direction, and to some gallery where 5 armed men were guarding a door. Needless to say I got my ass capped. :D

I thought this was a shooter, but it's more along the lines of a sneak/rpg/explorer.

No.....it's more stealth than anything else. There is more shooting later on but you are never in the position like Master Chief and shoot your way out of situations, more like shooting to give yourself a chance to escape.

So it appears that, like an idiot, I missed the medkit schematic on one of the first two missions, I've just gone into the transit for the start of mission 3, can I just hop back onto it when I next load it up and go and get it or have I missed it now?

I did the same with the Flashbang schematic. I believe it appears early on and I totally missed it. I've since found the v2 schematic, but it seems I still can't craft it unless I have the v1.

I would guess maybe its possible to go back, given you often come across those areas with the transit lift intersections. I've not felt I've needed the flashbang enough to attempt it though, the medkit is obviously a far more critical item though.

I have just reached a stage in the game where you are required to do a bit of back tracking, plus there are so many inaccessible areas due to things like vents which require cutters that I assume its inevitable eventually.

I'm playing on hard and in general I feel like I don't really use much of the crafted items anyway. I think there is a tendency not to rely on them because of the mechanic that they supposedly become less effective at distracting the Alien. I did see in a review that somebody who had completed it said that its worth using them because they had loads left at the end.

While I'm still yet to finish it, I do enjoy this game, as it's a bit different. I can see why people don't like it though, as it's not an all out action game, it really is about as stealthy as stealth games get. While you can start to understand the game mechanics, it's not like where you can just learn the pattern of a guards patrol route.... you have to be always looking for your next hiding place, working out the right time to move and always have the fear that the Alien might just drop in right where you are.

okay :D i've totally changed my opinion of this game. maybe i was too quick to judge at the beginning. it only really opens up and gets more tense, mission three onwards.

i've just done mission three, and now im on the start of mission four.

the other half had to leave the room last night as it was just too tense. seriously. i think this did it spot on for survival horror. :D

i haven't been this hot under the collar since doom 3

i literally **** myself when that android that you think is dead, grabs your leg :D great stuff!

Fully star out that "disguised" sweary though dude, there are snitches about these parts!

There are a few of those moments :p

I played a small bit with the 360 controller on PC last night and surprisingly it’s the first FPS game since Goldeneye64 that I’ve felt was natural playing. It’s no competitor to Mouse and Keyboard but it certainly wasn’t something I’d complain about using had I only had console access to play it.

I am actualy sick to death of this game now.
Don't know how far i am in? I'm looking for some trauma kit.

It's just a glorified game of hide and seek with an alien stomping round in
a bad mood all day.

I love playing stealthy games but this alien is psychic and knows my every move so it's just plain frustrating to be honest, NEXT!

Tauren hit the nail on the head. Tension sums this game up perfectly and I love it! And will love it even more once the devs get the promised patch out to resolve stuttering cutscenes.

Fantastically atmospheric single player game.

That sounds like the Med Lab bit, which I found the most frustrating point of what I've played thus far. The Alien doesn't really go away and is constantly walking about, it took me quite a lot of deaths to get past it.

Really enjoying this now, the save points were getting really annoying there for a bit.

On mission ten at the moment which seems to be pretty long but it's nice knowing I have the flamethrower should the Alien show up now. :D

Wow, mission ten is bloody long. Anyone have any idea how long it is compared to the remainder of the missions?

Did you end up using any of the stuff in your inventory? I'm about half away and I've never used anything apart from an EMP thing to disable an android.

Yep, used most of it at some point. I was spamming the flamethrower for ages before I realised you only need a quick burst to scare off the alien so the molotov's came in handy.

Loving this game - picked up a copy for the PS4 last week, and its been scaring the **** out of me since :p

Other than some initial FPS issues with the first cutscene, its been quite a stellar game - not sure how far I'm in, but I have just picked up the flame thrower :D

Feels a lot like System Shock 2 to me, and that's no bad thing!

Been playing for a couple of hours can't quite manage to get into the game

Will give it a few more hours before i make my mind up however

A couple of hours? Have you even encountered the Xenomorph yet? Stick with it mate, it's an incredible game!
