Alien: Isolation Trailer

Was going to start playing this today but apparently they're working on another update to fix the previous update that broke things, so I guess I'll hold off. Bit annoying.

A couple of hours? Have you even encountered the Xenomorph yet? Stick with it mate, it's an incredible game!

Yes I've had encounters I'm up to the point of finding the

Motion tracker

Will have a play now actually everyone else has just gone to a antiques event..... So il stick to the ps4 :D

Started to play this on the ps4 and I love it!!!
Think it looks and sounds fantastic but what on earth is going on with the performance issues with cutscene?

Really really poor. Kinda don't want to play it if there is an upcoming patch

Looking for a bit of help regarding a crash.

Cause in spoiler for anyone who hasn't played, I don't think it's much of a spoiler but just incase. :)

when you get to the medical bay and hear a unknown voice on coms who opens the elevator door for you, I go in the elevator and as soon as it finishes loading it just crashes. Have tried three times and it happens every attempt also tried after a full restart.

Any ideas?

EDIT : fixed spoiler

I believe this is due to the patch. Quick google will bring the info up. Think deleting the patch is the only fix

This is a quality game. Far better than I expected and my goodness does it get tense and scary! Hah. Looks and sounds amazing too.

Had an 80mb or so patch recently too. Just when I started playing. Cut scene choppiness is gone. Done know what else it fixed.

I finally finished the game on hard last night, ending thoughts in the spoiler tags...

I thought the ending was a bit of a let down personally. The quicktime event sequence in the airlock just cut abruptly, and you don't see what happens. Given that you never get to kill the Alien(s) it seemed a bit of a shame that you don't really get the true pay off blasting it out the airlock.

The final shot of Ripley floating in space seems to allude to her being rescued, which would make sense given that in Aliens its stated to Ellen Ripley that Amanda died of old age. Presumably its so they can angle a sequel out if it, which I suppose they can try, given that before playing the game it always looked like it was one Alien stalking you the whole time. In the end it turned out there was a nest with numerous Aliens, but no sign of a queen!

I've still got both pieces of the DLC to play, but might save them for a while.

Really enjoying this, been playing it all day and most of the evening. I'd got about half an hour in a few weeks back then left it to play Far Cry 4 and it didn't gel with me - it was boring, the controls felt iffy and I just wasn't drawn back to play it - but this is really keeping me engrossed, even when I'm having to repeat the same section over and over and over again. Damn that alien.

Love the attention to detail, the sound design is superb too. Reminds me a lot of Dead Space, which is fine as it's one of my favourite games.

Is the alien always on your ass throughout the game? It is fatiguing having to worry about it every 5 seconds, cant explore, cant walk lol as keep hearing the thing above.

There are certain parts of the game where it wont bother you for a while, but mostly it will be hunting you down.

It varies, although there's always the threat that it can appear at any moment, especially if you make too much noise. Often you'll hear it moving around in the vents etc but there are points where it'll be walking around and won't go away, so you have to be more careful or distract it to get where you need to go.

I watched a lot on Twitch. Some of the areas the alien didn't bother me at all in my play through but on other people's, it popped up anywhere, anytime.

Just saw this on gaf:

Explore the world of Sevastopol with a motion tracker featuring a damaged display and undependable information. Resources will be even more limited, the map systems have gone offline and fellow survivors and synthetics are even more deadly and aggressive.

In this heightened, terrifying atmosphere, our Alien will be hunting you like never before. With an upgraded AI that has amplified its fatal hostility, every step you take may be your last. Our monster is more adaptive, learning from your tactics with chilling speed and with intensified senses that will give you no second chances…

Gulp.

Finished this last night. Overall a great game and I really enjoyed it. The level design was excellent, the entire station was really interesting to explore and the attention to detail was superb. As I said before, lots of reminders of Dead Space for me.

Wasn't too impressed with the ending, felt rather abrupt and anticlimactic. Would have also liked the chance to destroy at least one alien somehow, in revenge for the many many times one skewered me.

Surprisingly long too, just as I felt I was nearing the end there'd be even more to do without it feeling like it was being stretched out artificially (aside from a few particular parts where you're backtracking too much).

Finished this and found it a weird one. It kept me coming back for more but I couldn't manage to play more than a couple of hours at a time before needing a break.

I think it was the fact it was pretty much always tense, no respite or very little respite which I found a little exhausting. Sometime I just wanted to walk around and explore, other times just look out of a window at the beautifully crafted space station but pretty much every single single second the god damn alien was on my ass making noises above and below me. Perhaps it was the surround sound that added extra realism and playing in the dark but I could feel the thing above me, behind me breathing down my neck. If that's what the developers intended, and they did, they did a pretty damn good job of nailing it.

I just wish they mixed it up a bit with a bit more time to relax. And I so bad wanted to kill that alien!

With the ending were they hinting at someone finding ripley floating in space? as there is a flash of light from a spacecraft across her visor. And given she was captured by the alien she has one inside her?
