Alien: Isolation...

dunno, sounds damn good on my home theater setup, very immersive, especially when you are are sat only a metre away from a 47" screen.

Well that would be the preference but you know who I'm talking to, those sissy girls who will rush through on easy and play with their tinny Sanyo screen speakers in 1024 x 768 res then moan about how boring it was... and go back to farming purple crystals for that wizard staff in World of Destiny Craftmine. :p

I didn't even meet Axel until about 2 hours in...had I known...

that there is no possible Alien contact until the scripted events when it's properly introduced, i'd have run through the first few parts

However I don't mind as i've really taken the time to soak up the atmosphere.

This game has massively surpassed expectation and it was already very high. I'm a huge Alien(s)(3) fan and have pretty much all the extended literature in the form of books, comics, behind the scenes stuff and so on.

The devs can pretty much sit back and say "nailed it" with a smug grin on their faces.

Gameplay wise, it's pretty basic but it works, they got the balance about right.

Chapter 10 for those who have done it, did I miss something?

In the medical facility there is a guy is a wheelchair who looks like a victim of a chestburster. Then in the surgery room there is the original victim. Did I miss something or is there a second Alien on the prowl? Feels like there is about 10 at the moment I can't move 5 feet without it re-appearing.

The Survivors seem to only be touched by the alien when you are in the mix. Flash bangs seemed to be a good way of getting the Alien to clear the way for you. I am starting to learn how to use the alien rather than just hide from it

I'm afraid to try it with my DK1.

I was skeptical, but it looks like it pulled through. The set design looks astounding (big fan of the original movie). Finally, a decent Alien game.

And looking at the 'unofficial' Rift support, I hope it becomes official and has the glitches sorted out. Possible they are planning a re-release for CV1, one year down the line.

WOW, the more i play this game the better it gets hahaha...

and holy crap at the engine the game uses.... could be a lot of awesome future games with this engine and graphics are amazing and run so fluid with crossfire and even maxed its hardly taxing my system. @ 3440x1440 @ ultra. 100+fps and never goes under that and that is like my cards minimum frames in this game.

Had a wee think about a sequel today, which you so know there will be, due to the acclaim this ones getting. Imagine playing as Newt in Aliens trying to survive until "rescue" arrives. It would begin in a half life kinda way as you see the LV426 colony in normal operations like in the special edition of the film. Then Dad gets facehugged, gets brought back and shenanigans ensue. She could run into surviving colonists to give it some mission structure and hide from aliens and facehuggers. The DLC will be once the marines get there. Would you play that?

I had a quick check to see what differences there are between "very low" and "Ultra"

Guess what? Minimal difference! Textures are a small amount sharper and DOF is present in Ultra with DOF turned on but with everything lowered and set to off the game largely looks the same.

What an amazingly optimised engine.

im currently playing isolation on hard mode :D

taking is slow and easy... those androids are tough as hell, takes 6 revolver bullets to take one down and thats hitting them in the head with every shot :D

just bought it downloading now in time for a saturday night lock in :D

I can thank Driveclub's PS4 launch being such a farce for encouraging me to purchase this today :)

Few tips for tweaking the game:

All the tweaks make the game look better but particularly Planar Reflections, which makes a big difference in certain areas for example the shiny floor of the med room at the start of the game.

Also downsampling does help to combat the pesky AA issue. It seems the ingame AA settings are not very good so theres lots of jaggies. It seems at the mo changes made in Nvidia Inspector or Ati CCC dont have an effect so Downsampling is the only cure.

The game does look super sexy when downsampled.

I thought I recognised Marshal Waits' voice - it's William Hope who was Lt Gorman in Aliens. So they've got more than just the original crew. :D
