Would say i'm surprised there is no thread on this but after the atrociously bad Colonial Marines, skepticism is to be expected.

Alien: Isolation is a first-person survival horror experience that “will focus on capturing the tension evoked by Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic film.” Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda, is who we’ll be playing as, as she investigates her mother’s disappearance. The game will take place 15 years after the events in the original Alien. Read on for more!

“Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.”

A lot of people are moaning that it's probably just 1 alien and not loads of guns, for me this is to the games potential strength. From what i've seen of the gameplay videos, seems like they might be taking a page out of Outlast's book whereas less is definitely more.

I've got high hopes for this, as explained in the hands on preview, the level of detail that's gone into the design is impressive. For me it really does evoke the feel of the first Alien movie and the fear I had when watching it for the first time.

How anyone can even think of preordering this after the Colonial Marines disaster is beyond me...

Well this has had loads of hand on test plays by a lot of people and the overwhelming consensus is that it's really good. The devs of Isolation have been really open all along the way and have perhaps showed to much if i'm being perfectly honest. Willing to take the chance though.

Colonial Marines was plagued with issues all the way through which should have sent alarm bells ringing for anybody.

Fair play I suppose, you can't really argue with that.

I can understand the trepidation of buying anything Alien or Predator related with the dogturd games we've had over the last 5 years or so but I have such high hopes for this.

I think it helps if you like games like Outlast where it is pure survival and zero combat.

Yeha I can totally see the appeal, it seems shocking that an Alien game like this hasn't been done already seeing as the first movie is the best one (sorry 'Aliens' fans :P)

No need to apologise, you're telling the truth :D

But yeah, I just have a problem with the pre order thing to begin with. But I dont want to start a forum riot so I'll let that lie for the moment xD

I'm only going to pre-order to get the Last Survivor DLC, the whole thought of playing Ripley from the point where she decides to destruct the Nostromo and then get back to the Narcissus safely appeals massively.

I wonder if you need to rescue Jones to succeed!

While im sure the game will be pant wettingly scary on the first playthrough im not convinced how it will be on multiple playthroughs, or once you have seen the same jumpscare a few times, hidden in the same locker a few times etc.

That was my point though, it won't always be the same spot, it's the USP of this game.

I'm letting myself get hyped for this, even after the terrible CM, just hope it doesn't let me down.

The first in-depth review i've read of Isolation and it sounds promising...

It's a game that delights in spooking you, using its superb sound design to keep you on edge. The station creaks and groans, computers bloop and crackle, but you soon learn to filter out the noises that spell danger. Heavy padding footsteps, the unmistakable crumpled metallic rumble of something moving in the vents above, the guttural hiss too malevolent for any steam pipe.

You may have a pistol, but ammo is ridiculously sparse (after hours of play I only had 9 bullets to play with) and since loud noises are a great way to attract the Alien, it's not something you'll do unless you have literally no other option.

£20 on dlcompare, i can stomach that, most likely the season pass will be available cheap somewhere shortly after launch.

Will wait for the first few reviews but i'll be hovering over the buy button, want this so bad.

Thank you for that. £20 for a new game is fair in my eyes. Will likely purchase the game from them if the price stays the same.

Never used this website before, is it safe and good to use?

I've used it 4/5 times with no issues and had my keys within minutes, however that's just me.

Yes I'm chicken, I played outlast and found it boring, pneumbria boring. Nothing yet has scared me and neither did the EGX gameplay trial :)

It appears to me on every single teaser i've watched that essentially as soon as the Alien has even glimpsed you a tiny bit, you're screwed.

Also on these teasers vids the player seems to be playing quite dumb to ensure they get killed for the promo's. I've noticed a lot of the time they put themselves out in the open whereas the rest of us would be cowering in a pile of our own exfrement.

Are there any pics of Frankie about, sounds like a handsome chappy. Could listen to him chat all day long, currently on episode 20 or so of his DayZ vids...addicted-much, also no homo ;)
