Alien: Isolation...

One thing that really impresses me, however small it may seem is that every locker has a unique interior.

It's little attention to detail like this that really shows the dedication towards this game.

No they don't? I've seen the same post it note in pretty much every one

Also pro-tip...if you're struggling to pick up more items because you have the max amount and don't have enough to make any one of the devices in full, store them in the construction menu, gives you more inventory space.

Has made a massive difference since I found this out by accident today

Or make devices?

Or make devices?

I meant if you don't have enough to make the actual devices but reach the limit on the specific part, you can store it in the construction menu and then pick up more parts.

EDIT: For example, for the EMP mine you need the following:

2x Charge Pack, Sensor, 1x SCJ Injector, 2x Bonding Agent

If you were at your limit of charge packs, you find one, can't pick it up, but you don't have the SCJ injector to complete the mine. You store 2 of your charge packs into the construction menu and it free's up two inventory spaces.

Right now I have construction parts stored in every single device menu with the exception of the last part on each. It's freed up about 10/12 inventory spaces IIRC. Am at work so can't check.

Having trouble getting this working with the Oculus- it crashes when the tracking camera sees the Rift. I think it's due to my Q6600 not having SSE 4.1. Anyone know of a way round this without getting another CPU?

I presume you are disabling the rift services - tools > advanced > pause service before opening the game? and have it in extended desktop to HDM mode

Yep, tried it every way. The game starts fine with the service disabled, but crashes as soon as I enable it and the track cam sees the rift.

Sorry, had to alt tab out to rant..

THERE'S A NEST?!? FULL OF EGGS AND FACEHUGGERS? WHERE DID THEY COME FROM??? Rhetorical, DO NOT TELL ME!! haha

I think they are taking their inspiration from Alien The Directors Cut where the Drone type Alien as seen in the original movie and in Alien Isolation do not require a Queen to reproduce. There is a scene where Ripley finds Dallas and Brett cocooned, Brett is dead in this scene and looks like he's turning into an egg where as Dallas is still alive, probably in ready to be a host for the face hugger/xeno

Ah I never got that. I just figured that they were instinctively cocooning people, whether there's a queen or not. How many types of xenomorphs are there in the Alien universe? The ones I know of are the regular drone, queen, facehugger, and the one in Alien 3 that comes out of the dog/ox.

Just had an epic moment waiting for a door to open. Alien noticed me from across the room and started to charge me, but I just, just managed to get a molotov out and throw it at it when it was right on me. The door opened and I legged it in!

Still really enjoying the game at 12 hours in.

I think the ones in Aliens were Warriors and I think the dog type you mention from Alien 3 is also known as the runner, if you go into the comics then there are too many to mention and sorta gets ridiculous :).

it's the closest thing to being thrown into the movie itself.

The game is a rare gem amongst a plethora of churn and um-imaginative junk released over the last decade!

Exactly! It's pretty incredible when you see comments stating it's boring and slow. I can't help but wonder if they aren't fans of the films or just played on easy and rushed through it. Or maybe they were expecting very "conventional" gameplay?

Pleasantly surprised by the comments in here - after the previous Alien game I wasn't expecting anything beyond mediocre - but this sounds like it's well worth playing.

Probably going to wait for upcoming steam sales in any case.

Been off work I'll for a couple of days and picked this up as a random shooter to kill a bit of time......wow it's amazing. It certainly doesn't feel like much of a fps, I don't think that I fired more than five bullets in the first three hours of the game. This is a beautiful game, enthrallling and just a pleasure to play. It suffers here and there from certain mechanics getting a little bit tired and it's far from perfect but I would highly recommend this to anyone :)
