Alien Vs Predator-Requiem

Oh yes!

My 'main' problem with AvP1 was the fact it will be the first Alien or Predator film most of the current generation will see. I'm sure most will think it 'rocks' but those who have seen the originals first time round will know otherwise.

The new film does look better than the first, lets hope it is!

I saw AvP for the first time on Film 4 a few days back. There were a couple of fun predator/alien scraps, but on the whole it 'blew' big time. :( It was probably better than the diabolically bad Resurrection, and the tedium of Alien 3, but that isn't saying much really.

I'll probably get AvP2 on DVD, if only to see 'Michelle from 24':D kicking ass, but not for much else.

Alien(s) and Predator fans can't really avoid seeing these sort of films despite how rubbish they are. It's annoying because you'll go and see them hoping it might just be good and then end up spending the whole time ignoring all the crap bits (whether it's effects, script, or acting). Thing is by the end of the film you know there have been far too many crap moments to make it even remotley good.

I'd say the first AvP movie was a tad better than Terminator 3 (which was absoloute crap). The only hope this new one has is that it's set in the jungle and it has a new director.

Your right, These films our must see's for most off us. Terminator 3 was just shocking. I actually though AvP was ok. It wasn't a bad movie, but its hould of been an 18, with the language and violence. These films aren't any good without *** violence.

Trouble is how many 18 rated films make big $$$ these days? I don't know the answer to that, but it can't be that many surely.

It's all about the kids these days and that magic PG12/13 rating.

It's also nice to see that some other people share my misery at the travesty of Terminator 3, another PG12 cash in. :(

I really hated the 1st one of these but this looks badass! Predators are double-hard again and taking no ****! Looks like it'll be an action/gore fest as well. :)

Resurrection was good. Alien 3 Assembly Cut is THE BEST ALIEN FILM EVOOOOR.

Is that the version of Alien3 that made it seem like a different film?
I thought it was the directors cut?

Anyway if it is then it is awesome. I cant believe that I wated as long to watch it

The AvP film should never have been set on Earth or been 'present day', should have been set post Aliens. The film was woeful, I felt cheated after seeing it

That's because Aliens are the ultimate sport, basically the hardest thing next to a Yautja (Predators)

I dont agree.

The books suggest that the Preds see Humans as the ultimate prey, because of our use of technology and organisation. The aliens, while being extremely bad ass, are kinda just animals to be hunted.

I'm sure I remember reading that only really experienced Preds go on human hunts.

I must read the books again.

There is no 'director's cut' of A3. The 'Assembly Cut' is the film before the studio got their mitts on it. Completely different from the studio film, unfinished in parts (lack of finishing), a bit rough and ready but oh so good.

I have to admit I did the same...I got the Quadrilogy when it was released and waited about six months to watch it.

this looks ok for a standard sci fi action flick, would be a shame if it was terrible though :(

Although think it's a bit lame/cheesy at how much they are making that woman look/act like Ripley.

Why have they thrown away the lonely futuristc/Sci-fi setting? That was part of the magic in the Alien trilogy imo. Made it all a lot more close tense and imaginative.

This is all going down in a style that doesn't hold so much appeal.

Aliens vs Predator vs the Hillbilly Rednecks

I am sure I'll get flamed for saying this but the Alien vs Superman one off Comic was really good.

Quite rightly so. It was terrible!

Half of it was him having just enough power left to do something imperative to his survival.

I don't know what I read, but I recall a plot like this:

Preds have a Queen shackled up laying eggs.
They fly around to various inhabited planets and drop a load of eggs off.
Facehuggers impregnate whatever they find, and aliens bearing the characteristics of their hosts are born.
Preds go an hunt said aliens.

I remember their being other aliens than the standard human types we see, such as rhino/alien hybrids from a facehugger that pregged up a rhino and the like.

On of the preds gets a good old face-canoodle, and a predalien is born and wreaks much havoc.

Whatever it was I read, I loved it, and originally hoped that AVP1 would be that storyline :(

What books / comics should be read to get into this AvP back story? It sounds fascinating!

AvP 1 was good for the effects, it was one of those films you could watch and do something else at the same time. I'd have enjoyed it a lot more if I didn't know how much better films Alien/Aliens (and to a lesser extend, Predator's 1 & 2) were, and how good the franchise could be.
