Aliens channel four friday ninth sept 2011

It didn't secrete acid, it got cut to buggery by the net.

You know, acid for blood. ;)

I actually liked it when the aliens turned on their own, and watching the poor alien arguing it's futile point. :D

But i can't help but think of t2 whenever i see hicks, kinda takes away some of the enjoyment when you think hang on he's in the wrong film!!!

:(

1. The shear awesome amount of firepower they produce and the real scifi nature of them (yeah dropships are nice and scifi but they are in all futuristic films).

Not that Sci-Fi: I believe the Russians had computer-operated IR-tracking machine guns by the Iron Curtain. Tended to shoot a lot of deer, I gather.

And it doesn't negate my point: that they don't have one in the context of the film. If they'd been a major plot point, fine. But they weren't. It was in, wave around, out. The Ripley daughter section had the same problem: it would have made an interesting story all on its own, or even a major sub-plot in another film. But here was solely present to show why Ripley has maternal feelings. But most people are protective towards children, so it wasn't needed. And again, it was was dealt with, from introduction to final shot, in about five minutes. Having watched both versions several times, i say the original is better. I can't think of anything put back in which improved the film.

Watched 1 and 2 last week. Was a good deal on the blu ray boxset so nabbed it, already had them on DVD but they are some of the best sci fi films ever.

I was never that keen on the first one always thought the second was better but after re watching the first it was a lot better than I remember! Also both look pretty good on blu ray.
I persuaded the sister to get the boxset also and she enjoyed it as well, such great movies. Don't make em like they use to.

Its my favourite film, Aliens. Used to scare the crap outta me as a kid seeing as I was born the year it was made.

Also some trivia: Bill Paxton (Hudson) is the only man to be killed by an Alien, Terminator and a Predator :D

I'd love it if the actual xenomorph existed, what a cool but very scary concept that'd be.. would make for some good military type survival reality shows though :D

The only thing with watching Aliens now I'm a bit older is it does feel very much like a Cameron film. I don't remember T2 being as cheesy in places as a kid either, but it really is. That said, it's still a movie I love, even if in terms of feel I prefer the survival horror of the first film.

I said the same thing basically in another thread in regards to T2 and Aliens. Both the original Terminator and Alien are great psychological/survival horror/thrillers. The sequels to both are just good old fashioned action films.

I definitely prefer the normal version. I've only watched the special edition once, and I can understand why Cameron chopped what he did. The normal version is pretty tight, whereas the SE (sentry guns included:p,) just feels clunky.

It must be said though, be it SE or normal edition, Sigourney is wonderful throughout.
