Aliens : Colonial Marines - FPS ( They're back ! )

Even though I dont have a PC or console anymore so can't play this game even though I really want to, I don't think I'd pre-order it as I got burned with AVP 2010. I didn't mind the game but it wasn't worth the pre-order price, especially since the price crashed about a month after launch also.

The same happened with gearboxes Duke nukem forever and this is another game thats been in development thats stopped and started more times than a **** car engine. I hope its good, but not holding my breath.

Duke Nukem was always going to be ****, and that really has nothing to do with Gearbox. They took a disaster of a development project from 3D Realms, tidied it up and released it. I'm glad they did. Sure it was poor, but it was one of those games that you had to experience due to the development hell. I would have hoped that everyone who picked up Duke went in with their eyes wide open.

You'd think that anyone who's read these forums for any length of time would know not to pre-order anything unless it's a dead cert (new elder scrolls or the like), but every single time, people buy into the hype. A month after release, the game's available for a quarter of the price because it's crap and people are feeling hard done by

I wouldn't say a quarter of the price, but mostly agreed. I usually buy games like this a month or so after release if the game actually lives up to the hype, which they usually don't.

Just realized this is due out soon, not much media hype by the big review sites....

Got a feeling it'll be a poor game, the lack of hype on the game sites and February release date point towards a mediocre cash in.

I'm another that was stung with AvP 2010 and Duke Nukem forever, I'll leave this til it's under a fiver! ;)

I am mostly buying it for the MP, so if I get 10 hours entertainment out of it, then it will be worth it for <£20. I bought both AvP2010 and Duke Nukem, only game I regretted was Duke Nukem. On the other side of the coin, I have logged about 150+ hours in both Borderlands 1 & 2, so it is swings and roundabouts really.

Want to pre order this... but which version to get? Seems every place gets difference DLC.

Taken from a thread on gearbox...

In an attempt to get all the Pre-order details into one informative thread, I'm going to add this as a sticky. Lets work together to get all the pre-order incentives into one thread and one list. That way people won't have to search through the whole forum to find what they are looking for.

ChrisF (GBX): Correct. Aliens: Colonial Marines is a Steamworks title on PC, so it activates on Steam regardless of where you buy it.

So... if I buy it from say GameStop, will that work ok in the uk? I assume the last sentence is confirmation of this?

I think it is safe to say that the game is pretty bad when reviewers are warning members on GAF not to pre-order the game. Review embargo isn't up until Tuesday, but that is pretty substantial hint to the quality.

Not surprised. The game has looked pretty ropey since the start.

I don't know, a lot of people said the same about Far Cry 3 when it was first released. Being shoddy, most of these feelings changed down the line

Apparently people are already playing the full game and its crap. :(

To be expected though, it's an Alien franchise game.

It was very much console in mind with a lack of after thought

I spoke to some of the guys at Rezzed - tight fov, bad mouse movements, poor textures and they didn't even know what keys were mapped to what options.

 So much potential ruined, you would think they would listen to the players before the game released!
