The badly animated alien is obviously extremely comical but it's not like the poorness of this game is limited to only that. I just spent a minute or two flicking through the other walkthrough videos and just...dear god... It's amazing that every Aliens game that comes out somehow manages to plumb new depths of mediocrity.

I will be posting some screenshots here from the game running at max details @ 1440p tomorrow. That should ruffle some feathers.
I've read the review and through the thread. And to sum up...
Single player seem it will be great if you are an aliens fan. But not such a great game if you are just an FPS fan.
But Mutliplayer sucks because of how buggy it is right now

Agreed. Huge aliens fan so i know i will love the game and easter eggs. I loved the last AVP, though i got bored of it in the end.
I guess the day 1 patch will fix some of the problems. Interestingly i watched a gameplay video of an xbox user playing online for an hour. It looked damn good fun and i didn't see any of the bugs mentioned and it looked very enjoyable.

But how long is the single player - thought I read somewhere it was only 5 hours long?
Called it months ago that this would be pish, typical Gearbox release, hyped to hell and back and its sub average at best. They do have their share of decent games but long awaited ones like this always seem to fall on their arse when Gearbox is involved.

Some guy posted a review on the gearbox forums and said he had spent 10 hours on it and was on mission 7 or 8. 11 missions in total as far as i know.
We'll see. I take all the console reviews with a large pinch of salt. Once the pc version and the day 1 patch arrives then i will get an accurate idea of what the game is like.

I can see the game being reasonable but nothing astounding might be worth £20 if you can pick it up cheap somewhere. But as with all games its each to their own and their own opinions!
I think it looks okay, it looks like it has a bit of jankiness around it with some animations and weird bugs but I think that is expected in some capacity from Gearbox and a game that has been in development for around 4-5 years? Hopefully the story and fiction is done pretty well as the combat doesn't look all that great thus far!

i watched a playthrough by some guy on youtube, 12/13 parts, 20 mins each. he was a dopey noob as well (spent about 5 minutes looking for a powerloader...)

I won't be watching that because of the spoilers, but i can guess that its the video with the Alien walking funny. That funny animation (which they use in left 4 dead 2 btw when the special infected creep - and l4d2 is a brilliant game) is not going to have any effect whatsoever on the game for me. If that is going to put you off liking a game then i pity you, but each to their own.
In l4d2 you can control special infected (like hes done in this exact video) and walk like that. Its hilarious. I'd hardly say that suddenly makes a game rubbish, but that's just me.
