alienware AW3418DW Availability in the UK?

I spoken to Dell, they won't exchange it, but I can return for a refund :confused:

How does it look in normal use and in games?

If BLB and glow is not noticeable when in use I wouldn't worry too much, how often does anyone have a blank black screen?

MY old 60Hz monitor has a touch of BLB along the top and bottom but you couldn't notice it unless on a black screen so it never bothered me.

Dead pixels on the other hand...

Honestly if it was bothering me that much I'd refund it and simply get something else or re-order later when it's back on deal and roll the dice a second time. A bit shocking that they won't replace it at least once although I best they have huge demand just now.

Guys, I have had this monitor for a year and what back light bleed I had from new is virtually non existent now.

Don't get confused with glow and bleed. This model suffers bad glow from the bottom left from a massive amount of users.

You may end up chasing a perfect monitor and good luck, however how often are you viewing a black screen.

I know what you mean, last weekend all I was interested in was no dead pixels. Now I've changed my own goal posts.

I am beginning to think I should be happy with what I've got. It does looks good when I'm not looking for the bleed.

And there’s no guarantee what you’ll get in exchange will be better. It could be worse.

These pictures have convinced me...not to get one.

Ultrawide just looks too narrow on the vertical for my liking, no different to a 24in or hardly any difference worth speaking of.

I was very tempted but looking at these shots I think I'll stick to my original plan of a 32in 1440p.

indeed his loss ;) the screen is awesome, i have no dead pixels and very very light bleed thats even hard to see in dark scenes so i will be keeping mine as i think i won the lotto :)
though there is one niggle that sometimes bothers me is the screen is not bright enough. i have it set to calibration 37 brightness 75 contrast and its slightly dull but what a great picture when calibrated though it is calibrated for night time viewing and movies and games
just wish it had a little more brightness.;.

In my book a 27" screen isn't really a worthwhile upgrade over 24", hence why I'm sticking with my original plan for a 32in panel, It was just the novelty of possibly going Ultrawide that tempted me...for a while.

Wouldn't that be a downgrade in terms of PPI?

1440p 32" -> 91.79PPI
1440p 24" -> 122.38PPI
1080p 24" -> 91.79PPI

Set brightness to 100%? :D

None of this makes any sense. You wouldn't be upgrading to 27", you'd be upgrading to 34" ultrawide which has the same height as a 27". You want to go 32" which will have the same pixel height as a 27", but stretched and worse looking due to lower ppi.
