alienware AW3418DW Availability in the UK?

None of this makes any sense.

It makes perfect sense when you know what i'd be mainly using the panel for. Mostly browsing and the only gaming I really do these days is via emulation and most of the emulators i use have no 21:9 support and display the games in their original 4:3 ratio or at best native 16:9 both of which will look far more impressive on a large 32" panel with the bigger vertical axis than squished to a 4:3 or 16:9 image, with huge borders, on a 21:9 display.

For emulated games, running at their low resolutions, the lower pixel density of a 32" 1440p screen really isn't an issue.

See, when you know the details, the idea of me even considering this panel was, well, silly.Which is why I'm glad I saw the photos in this thread, to knock some sense back in to me:p

Well I went ahead and ordered the monitor tonight so really looking forward to getting hold of it soon. It's a shame I missed out on the extra £63 saving but it was my own fault for procrastinating so much but at £815 it's still a great price (not jealous at all of the people who got an extra 20% off on top :p).
I just hope I get a good one when it comes to BLB etc, keeping everything crossed!

May I ask where you got yours from for that price ? I've just paid £900 direct from Dell and it's still not been dispatched and I ordered it on Tuesday just gone :-/

Hey Mythril1976, I bought direct from Dell via their website, currently shows as 35% off at £815. Bear in mind this was with no extra warranty added just the standard 3Yr Basic with Advanced Exchange.

I've just emailed the guy who sold me the monitor at Dell. I've explained I'm not very happy about being "overcharged" by nearly £100. I've asked for them to readjust their price to reflect that of the web site and to chase up my order as it's still showing as "Confirmed" in the shipping area. It's yet to be shipped and it's already three days late !

Ok so you bought it over the phone, that is very cheeky indeed then seeing as it has been on sale for over a week now and was initially selling at £752 at the start of the sale! Hopefully Dell can refund the difference for you, I'm sure they will. Let us know how you get on with the delivery as well?

I've been on the phone to half a dozen different people today so far with regards to the price I've paid. The long and short of it is they will reimburse me the almost £100 back to my account once the monitor has been delivered. I have an conformation email of this but again it will miss their delivery day (18th Dec) as the monitor has not even made it off the production line yet !!

Well it looks like someone's head rolled at Dell. I've just had an email stating that the monitor will be delivered tomorrow between 8am to 6pm. I wonder if it's a reject and they've sent it out to shush me up

Its possible to see it? That before it was rejected? Maybe some screen cover is missing? :D :D

All seems very strange, I reckon there was just an issue with the order on their system but did not want to admit it. I ordered mine on the 16th and I also just got an email stating mine is due for delivery tomorrow between 8am - 6pm so I'm sure you have not been palmed off with a reject.

Oh dear, just seen this on my tracking info so may not appear tomorrow after all... "There may be a delay with your delivery due to severe weather conditions" I guess this is attributed to storm Deirdre, keeping my fingers crossed that it turns up!

I think what's happened is they've had an influx of orders and they've not been able to keep up with them hence the delay. At least it's another £100 cheaper than it was yesterday !! I'll post an update tomorrow. Hope yours arrives RockSteddy !!

Unlikely, you are just working through the process. I had the same a week ago. Tracking updates on the site were slow.

My monitor was manufactured in October, chances are it's a brand new unit.

Hope so :) Anyway, now it's working out G-Sync. Some say run it with V-Sync enabled in the NCP, V-Sync off in the game settings and cap the FPS with something like Afterburner to a couple of FPS below the refresh rate of the monitor. Others say not to have V-Sync enabled within the NCP

In NVCP:

Enable Gsync (d'oh)
Enable Vsync

In game: Vsync OFF

That's it.

NVCP Vsync with Gsync behaves differently to non-Gysnc monitors, NVCP Vsync will only cut in when the game exceeds the rate at which you set your monitor (and then NVCP) to.

Thus you don't need any frame limiting software (well, at least I don't).

There are some games which need limiting to 60FPS (like Dishonored 2) because of engine limitations, it stutters otherwise.

Go to https://www.blurbusters.com/gsync/gsync101-input-lag-tests-and-settings/ for further info if required.

Tried to talk sales chat on the Dell website into an additional discount but they weren’t for having it. A shame as I’ve got my X34P refund from Amazon but can’t stomach nearly £200 more, especially when it was just over £700 last week!

I just looked, it isn't £200 more than what it was last week, it's about £60 give or take, so still well worth it IMO.
