All change at McLaren

Looks like we will have a new Team Principle soon then. Ron has tried on several occassions to remove MW from his role as Team Principle and now has the power to do so. If MW does step down from that role the question is who will fill it?

Wow. Didn't think Ron would shaft Whitmarsh like this. I agree that McLaren have sunk since Whitmarsh took over.

This news means no Alonso in 2015? Can't see Ron allowing that to happen now he's back in charge. So Whitmarsh to leave as team principal. Ron doesn't want to have to be on the pit wall. Ross Brawn is available..... soon! ;)

I wouldn't think Alonso in 2015 would be the right choice anyways as he is only getting older!
Suppose it all depends on who fares better in 2014 for McLaren: Button or Magnussen. If its Magnussen, McLaren might want a more experienced driver for a few seasons until Magnussen gets some races, and perhaps wins, under his belt.

Ive said it all along that Brawn will end up there and I stand by that.
Surely that would have depended on Ron wrestling control of the F1 team from Whitmarsh? :p So this was all pre-meditated on Ron's part and not a recent thing to save the team, sorry, constructor?

They weren't setting the world alight with Ron either. Whitmarsh has to go, but Ron isn't the answer either.
Not in the years before Ron gave control to Martin no. It is remarkable that Ron handled Senna and Prost in the same team but couldn't handle Alonso and Hamilton.

I agree that Ron isn't the answer that McLaren need. Hopefully Brawn will be. :)

Ron was never that great a fan of Button, so next year could be his last too.
Really? Assumed he was OK with Button but I can see that if Button was a Whitmarsh signing, Ron mightn't have been too happy with it.

How will this affect the F1 team? does this mean Whitmarsh now fully answers to Ron? however Whitmarsh is still in control of the team?

really is sounding like Whitmarsh's time is almost up, i reckon if the team dosnt perform this year he'll have his marching orders.

As has been said already i dont really think he is the answer to get the team back in the running, however i do think his presence and command will bring about the changes that will bring them back to the forefront. I really hope we see big ron on the pit wall more often now i've missed him!

so who will take control of the team this year?

1) Ron kicks Whitmarsh out and runs the team until Brawn returns from his little holiday...
2) Whitmarsh stays until Brawn returns...
3) Whitmarsh/Ron run the team this year and look at a fresh start next year with Brawn-having him spend the last half of the year working on next years car...

Either way seems like Brawn would be a good choice, hope Button stays on with a lot more success...

Not sure I see Alonso heading over in 2015, Ron has OK'd it, but will he still be successful or willing to leave Ferrari?

Problem (for this season at least) is that Ron doesnt want to be on the pitwall (from that bbc article), so will MW be here for one more season before Ross Brawn comes in to replace him?

Always thought JB had signed a multi-year deal, but doesnt look like thats the case. Really hope he gets a chance to get re-united with Honda in 2015 at the least but looks like it all depends on how this season goes.
