All change at McLaren

According the BBC, Whitmarsh hasn't been at the MTC since the 16th - when Dennis took control, and with with no mention/sight of him at the launch today it can only mean that's he out.

I'm not sure Boullier is the right man though. Lotus (IIRC) had a string of poor race strategy calls in the last couple of seasons, and wouldn't that have been Boullier's responsibility?

It's not like McLaren, under the control of Whitmarsh, have had an impeccable strategic record either though.

As others have said, hopefully it will be Brawn in 2015.

I would expect the team principals to be attending the pre-season testing, so we should find out shortly what's happening at McLaren.
Bets anyone? :)

Hopefully Boullier is nothing but a stopgap (a la Perez) and it'll be Brawn at the helm when Honda come on board next year.

I think he will take over at McLaren and have a 2-3 year contract. Also I think it's goodbye JB hello fat john next year.

Also I thought JB was not a fan of Sky at all....

I hope hope HOPE he wins the championship for his dad.

That would be epic. It would mean that McLaren have a great car, which I am all for.

My take is that you need big personalities at the top to get the most out of people, and Whitmarsh was too softly-softly whenever visible to the public. Doesn't necessarily mean that he's like that behind closed doors, but to me I imagine he is.

I think Button is going to have his hands full fending off Magnussen. If Perez was dropped as Magnussen was consistently outperforming him in the simulator, as is rumoured, then given how close Button and Perez often were on track, I find it hard not to believe that a raw Magnussen isn't going to be ahead of Button on the grid for half the races. That said, it's highly likely Button's consistent race pace will win over in the long-run. Could be set for a few more run-ins next season. :p

They said that Button needs someone to push him - he was quick again Hamilton but slower since Perez joined.

Lotus have already made a statement that Gerard Lopez will take on role as Team Principal.

Lopez, who runs the Genii Capital investment group that owns Lotus, would "combine his position on the board with the role of team principal with immediate effect".

Depends on how good the car is - if the car is really **** it doesnt matter how good the driver is , it will still be ****.

A better car is easier to push right to the limit, and the better driver will more easily be able to handle this (without un-expected /un-explained "snap" understeer/ oversteet etc)

Saying that from what Ive read recently the turbos and ERS are so completely different from what the Alonso's / JB's/ Hamilton's etc are used to maybe those starting relatively fresh may have an advantage

Yep, its a great year to bring a new guy in, as they're on a much more level playing field. still got to learn the rams/mechanics and circuits. But as for how to drive the car, car setup etc. No one has a clue.

So there you have it.
I'm confused about the new structure though, I thought Ron Dennis is the CEO? Or is this new position CEO of 'McLaren Racing' and Dennis is CEO of the McLaren group?

I think Dennis is CEO of McLaren Group, which covers the F1 team and the road cars. Then there will be another guy who's CEO of the F1 team, and then there's Boullier and Neale.
