Walcott is a massive Liverpool fan is he not? Perhaps he'll fancy a move there if they can afford him.

I'm not sure about him being a massive fan. We wanted to sign him when he joined Arsenal and seeing as he hadn't signed a pro deal with Southampton at the time, we wanted to sign him on a free and then pay Southampton a couple of million in compensation. He/his family wouldn't play ball and waited for somebody to agree a fee with Southampton and we wouldn't/couldn't match the fee Arsenal offered.

That said, he is meant to be a Liverpool fan but Walcott to Liverpool doesn't quite make sense to me. I can't see us bettering any offer he's got from Arsenal and he's already settled in the area (not far from where his family is) and they're in the CL.

I'd take him though. I'm not his biggest fan but for all his faults, he gets more than his fair share of goals from a wide position and that's what we're crying out for.
We signing anyone Baz? Trawling through RAWK transfer forum is awful

I haven't got a clue. I barely go on RAWK.

I suspect that if and when Spearing, Adam and possible Cole and Carroll leave, we'll bring in a couple of attacking players. Not really sure who though; Dempsey and Walcott seem to be the main 2 we're being linked with.
Is Walcott still young enough to mean Arsenal will get compensation from any club which signs him at the end of his contract?

Nope. Had he been a few months younger then Arsenal would have got some sort of development fee - possibly worth as much as £10m.

edit: and I've seen people quoting @indykaila from twitter. He's full of ****. He's not a journalist.

dembele wouldn't be that much of a shock if he went to spurs, surely?
perhaps surprising, but not a shock.

he has 1yr left on his contract anyway: http://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/en/moussa-dembele/profil/spieler_19368.html
so that may have two possible effects - buying clubs being unhappy with an inflated fee, and him and/or the agent thinking it might be a good idea to see out the contract and sacrifice European football for now in order to get the bumper pay cheque later.

this is the most intriguing potential transfer to follow in the run up to the end of the window.

i read that fulham have the option to extend this next year and they can call the shots due to how close to the wire it is.

him or m'vila maybe? if we do get willian then we have a problem, no creativity from the centre (and from what i understand, m'vila is more defensive than offensive anyway?). playing down the wings is mighty entertaining but it's so easy for the opposition to defend against, or if they can't defend against it, it still requires someone in the box to convert, this showed massively on saturday, we should've put the game to bed in the first half.

yeh, a new keeper would be nice and lloris has some good reviews but friedel wasn't at fault for any goals conceded so far but he's not going to get any better. it's a lot of money for a keeper when we've got 2 'decent' keepers on the bench. gomes may have come good had he had time and cudicini is always reliable.

@tom re Allen; He looked very good against Manchester City and his ability to recycle the ball really helped Liverpool completely dominate and nullify Manchester City's midfield.

I think he was expensive at ~15 million, but if he continues playing at this level it could turn out to be a very good signing.

I am hearing through reliable itk over at Spurscommunity that Moussa Dembele is having a medical.

Who: Roger Morgan
Where: Spurs Odyssey
When: 28/08/12
In a thread called 'Dembele'.......

i'm hearing more and more on it too.. what i don't understand is, would this be an AVB signing? just how much can he possibly know about him?

the willian rumour i can understand as he's obviously scouted him and he bid for him when he was chelsea manager but dembele has kind of come out of nowhere...

the VDV departing rumour hasn't gone away either.

It's looking tragic for Arsenal fans now. I wonder if Santi is already regretting his decision. Mind you, at least he's getting paid at Arsenal. However, if he carries on the way he's started and Arsenal have a mediocre season, I can see him making noises next summer when the bids come in.

We'll do well to shift Walcott before the transfer window closes, then there's the problem of replacing him, Gervinho is almost as dire and should be a bench player at best.

Not particularly, Walcott leaving is hardly a blow. Van Persie would be a loss for any team, we're just lucky he has but a handful of seasons left and we've brought in two strikers who have good records. They've failed to hit the net so far but we've only played two matches and both against two opponents who were both happy to sit 10 players, sometimes all 11 players behind the ball. The attacking movement has been good, we've made plenty of chances and generally dominated the opposition in both games.
