Looks like Berbatov is off to Fiorentina for £4.5m~. He's on the way there now for a medical.

So disappointing even as a neutral that he won't try Berba with RVP :(
One day Berbatov might tell us what he did to fergie to alienate himself so badly :(

4.5m Everton should have had a piece of that. Wages would kill us sadly.

Looks like Anelka and Drogba could be on their way out of China already, the clubs chairman is pretty much blackmailing the shareholders by threatening to not pay the wages of Anelka, Drogba and Giovanni Moreno unless he (billionaire chairman Zhu Jun) is granted majority control. I think they also might not have permission to join the club in playing any more games unless the situation is sorted.

"Reports say that under a 2007 deal, Zhu’s 28.5 percent stake would rise to 70 percent if he invested more than 150 million yuan ($23.6 million) in the club. Zhu has reportedly spent about 600 million yuan."

So I guess you can see why he's doing it. Kinda.

Yep. Berbatov will most likely get a chunk of that ~£4.5m too.

edit: And Spearing looks like being very close to leaving Liverpool. We've reportedly agreed a £3m fee with Bolton (although he'd prefer to leave on loan) but supposedly Wolves and Villa are also in for him. One way or another he'll be off though.

Isn't he costing well over £30m? That's probably why.

£31m/€40. I can understand why we'd not be interested as there seems to be a fair bit of politics involved in the transfer but surely that wouldn't stop the likes of PSG?

I think you are after Cabaye, from what I have seen spread around Twitter. Arsenal have been strongly linked with both Tiote and Cabaye. And some Arsenal sources have said we accepted a bid of £20m for Cabaye.

So I can see Man U being up in arms about this, after their strong links earlier in the transfer window

I like Cabaye, I maintain that the form I saw him show in the Euro's is nothing like the Cabaye I've seen at Newcastle (maybe I dont watch them enough) but I think he'd be a very good signing, obviously when you ignore the fact that Newcastle got him for peanuts just a summer or two ago :o

Cannot imagine Toon accepting 20mill for Cabaye but I have been wrong before :p

I've heard Cabaye is becoming very unhappy with the Debuchy saga.

He personally told Debuchy to become public about leaving Lille, because Newcastle wanted him. Now he seems to have been left dry by Cashley, I would personally pay the asking price for Debuchy just to keep Cabaye happy!!

Cabaye and Tiote both have 6 year contracts or something ridiculous like that, Tiote seems happy and that is the first I have heard about Cabaye being unhappy, I think they will stay at newcastle.

I hope you are right. But Newcastle always spring a surprise these days, Colo has been link with City :(

Why are City suddenly being linked with a lot of average players. I assumed that City might bring in 1 or 2 marquee signings to strengthen the squad and add quality. Rodwell was a strange one and now rumours of Theo Walcott too. Very odd.

Unbelievably daft rumours of David Trezeguet to Wolves, which is obviously a wind up, but good for a laugh!

In case there is any truth to it though, should do alright in the championship!

How many 'home grown' players do they have?

Hart
Richards
Lescott
Barry
Milner
Anyone else?

How many home grown players a club has isn't that important as very few clubs actually use up their 25 man squad. The only important number is the amount of non-home grown over 21 year olds - you can only have 17 of those.

how accurate is the walcott to city rumour?

feel a little sorry for wenger and exodus he seems to be having to deal with.

It's probably accurate, most places are reporting that City are trying to buy him for £12m~.

They are still negotiating his contract though, so he may still end up staying.

Clichy as well. Rodwell counts as one also doesn't he?

I don't rate Walcott but I am sure that if possible Marwood will really push for this deal. I think Mancini likes him as well.

Some other news,

Di Marzio (reputable transfer guy at Sky Italia) says Maicon has agreed terms, now it's just haggling over the price.

Re; Nastasic, Everything sorted except an agreement between Savic and Fiorentina. Deal could be done today.

The usual flight rumours as well, apparently De Rossi's agent and solicitor are flying to London tomorrow. We have offices in London so 2+2=5 means he is going there to finalize deal for De Rossi! :P

Martinez has apparently passed a medical at Bayern, one of the strangest moves of the summer that, cannot believe Bayern have got him with seemingly no opposition from anyone else

Can't fathom why we'd be in for Moura for crazy money (a player we don't need) and not Martinez (a player we do)
Read the player profile I linked earlier:
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...d-transfers-scouting-report-for-javi-martinez

With all the Martinez' skill, the key negative is his lack of agility. Arguably he could be a better CB than DM and I can see why Premeirship clubs would see €40M+ as being poor value for a DM/playmaker who can't react or recover position quickly enough.
