Arshavin is still one of our best players, the way he's been treated by Wenger/fans is a disgrace. Fans/Wenger decided to back Nasri fully, despite being a selfish little git, getting 11 goals and 1 assist, in that same season Arshavin got 10 goals and 18 assists.... Nasri forced his way out as Wenger dropped Arshavin and the fans turned on him..... 10 goals and 18 assists, an excellent season and the fans randomly decide he's crap.

Then we buy Gervinho to replace him then do our best to force Arshavin out, brilliant from Wenger and Arsenal fans, brilliant.

I'd love for him to stay and be first team but I think Wenger refuses to trust him(for no apparent reason), he's pee'd off with the way he's been treated(utterly fairly) and I'm quite happy for him to move on as he is way way too good a player to either be treated like crap or not be first team.

Fans are fickle numpties though, Russian fans apparently turned on Arshavin because he was by a country mile their best player for the first two games, and 2/3rds of the last game, but because the last 1/3rd he was pretty awful, and clear as day absolutely shattered also and not subbed, the fans have decided not making it through to the knock out stages is entirely his fault... madness, the only reason they were in with a shout of moving on was his earlier brilliant performances.

It's not surprising how many fans base their opinion off the last 15 minutes of a game, and of the last game they see only.

I think Arshavin is a very useful player, he doesn't run around like a headless chicken though which obviously doesn't suit the typical English fan's requirement of a player. :p

The russians are as bad as our fans, they apparently booed him a bunch and have decided it was all his fault, despite setting up a bunch of their goals and creating chance after chance, the striker who missed like 7 golden chances in the first two games, and a couple other guys who missed almost all their shots, its the guy who was the most tired in the final game having put in more effort than anyone else who gets the blame.

Kerzhakov was dire, I'd even have put Pavlyuchenko on rather than him. Still, I think if Arsene insists on leaving Arshavin on the bench then we'll need a proper right winger. Cazorla is better in the middle and I can't prepare myself mentally for a season of upcoming Gervinho retardation. :(

Bah, Sun going with Walcott to City for 12m, I honestly don't give a crap about him leaving, at all, I just don't want him to go somewhere that can win titles. He'll be another Hleb, or Quiton Fortune, Park, win multiple titles despite being crap while picking up a huge wage because some idiot manager decides he can help them. of all players we have he doesn't remotely deserve titles.

I'd actually love to see us sell Walcott and bring in Dempsey, I think Fulham are in a crazy tough position because of the whole failed Dempsey to Liverpool thing that we might be able to go in with a cheaper offer. Currently Fulham aren't seemingly willing to play him, let him train, or even talking to Jol, which means they might be at a "do any deal possible before Sept" situation, even at 10mil he's a good deal and he can certainly play wide, gets goals, assists and his ability, workrate, vision are all exemplary. We should also have put in a bid for Dembele who can play the same position.

No idea how anyone who watches the prem league doesn't know who/what Dembele is. He came to Fulham as a striker, then pretty much moved to be a more wide striker/winger, then more recently has moved more centrally. He was equally excellent in all positions, very good/great footballers can play most positions. He's great on the ball, his movement is fantastic, his vision is very good, he's a very good passer though an excellent dribbler who prefers running with the ball than passing but can do either. he also, unlike Gervinho, has an end product after going on a run, is very strong and more recently in a central position has been doing more tackling/defensive work and much like Cabaye, is very very good at that too. I believe the stat was 8 tackles made against Utd, no fouls conceded, basically good midfield/defensive work on top of his excellent attacking/creative work.

Why Arsenal weren't in for him I don't know, 15mil is a very good deal for him, really excellent buy from Hughes. I'd happily buy Dembele and Dempsey, sell Walcott because we probably could, sell Gervinho if we can....... not likely, or Diaby. I'm not entirely convinced by Giroud, either way, I would have hoped for a few more flashes of brilliance for him to be a top player, a fantastic shot, a fantastic piece of play, some fantastic interplay, out of form and unfit players might not play well for a whole game but great players, even unfit, usually produce something excellent or show signs of it.

Dembele/Podolski/Dempsey front three, Arteta, Santi, Wilshire midfield would be pretty god damned fantastic. You have goals in every player, assists in every player, great passing, interplay, movement from everyone. When you switch that up for Gervinho/Walcott/Diaby you end up with 3 people who kill most attacks, contribute nothing and have horrendous off the ball movement. Hell Dembele/Dempsey work hard, defend well, with Arteta/Wilshire both excellent defensively/offensively that would be a midfield/attack that is solid in every single aspect. You have crossing, passing, interplay, movement, heading, goals, assists, defensive ability, strength, pace, intelligent players in every single position.

15mil for Dembele, 11mil for Gervinho........ 10mil for Dempsey, we spent more than that on Walcott.... We could have gotten Dembele/Dempsey for almost nothing if we'd bought them a few seasons ago. Buying poor players costs you so much money, and so much time as you end up stuck with them for years and bad managers prefering to try and make those good by continuing to offer new contracts and bigger wages in the hope those players will come good eventually, rather than just move on.

Edit:- Walcott for Dempsey, Gervinho for Dembele and Chamakh for Berbatov and I might just start to trust Wenger again. Rotation/injury cover/actual talent level of everyone in midfield/forward positions would be ridiculous.

Martinez has apparently passed a medical at Bayern, one of the strangest moves of the summer that, cannot believe Bayern have got him with seemingly no opposition from anyone else

Maybe his model for the team is that of possession and so not really needing someone to 'break up' the opposition. Barcelona do it with biscuits who is without a doubt the WORST 'DM' in existence and goes down easier than Ashley Young at the sight of a sledge hammer.

Either way, im not worried, I think we have done ok in the transfer market and its now just a case of lining up the players we have in a way that works as well as it can.

Both games so far we have dominated possession, the goals will come.

dembele is younger than modric and got more direct assists than modric (apparently)

i'm not saying he's a direct modric replacement, he's not, i can't think of anyone who would be, not for <£20m anyway but i can't wait to see him play for us.

we could shortly be lining up like this

Ade

Bale Sig Willian

Dembele Sandro

BAE Kaboul Vert Walker

Lloris

that's a team that should be challenging top 4
It will challenge until Ade gets bored/injured. Then we are screwed

Well, I'm now firmly of the belief that SAF thinks our midfield situation is fine, even if I'm not convinced myself.

I think you are after Cabaye, from what I have seen spread around Twitter. Arsenal have been strongly linked with both Tiote and Cabaye. And some Arsenal sources have said we accepted a bid of £20m for Cabaye.

So I can see Man U being up in arms about this, after their strong links earlier in the transfer window

4.5mill is a bargain for berbatov. Wouldnt be surprised if he had a good 2 seasons now he rid himself of that problem. Always wondered whether SAF went for him because City wanted him or whether he genuinely wanted him as a player?

I'm too burry eyed to comprehend how Steven Fletcher is worth just over 3 times Berbatov, or see how Sunderland didn't think he would be a better solution to their problems than Fletcher...

Cannot imagine Toon accepting 20mill for Cabaye but I have been wrong before :p

Can see Fulham going off a cliff without Dempsey/Dembele.
