I don't geddit. Why would we get rid of a player of such pedigree for such a small amount of cash? (Exactly the same applies to Dawson). We could not buy the equivalent for 9m and we are not in the position that we can attract superstars because we are competing against more money, trophies and CL football.

VdV is our match changer. He is truly one of the few players in the PL who will walk onto any stage and swing things. He has poor fitness but we got him for a song and just seeing him available (even on the bench) is such an asset to any manager. This is also recognised by the Netherlands.

I don't think Remy fits that description. He is good but lacks VdVs brilliance and capacity to swing a game.

Unless VdV is desperate to get back to Germany, I would love us to keep him. Am a bit gutted to be honest. He is like a young Jol in interviews too. I love his honesty, bonhommie and hard work.

On the plus side, Dembele is a super signing for us. Remy
old be good if he is strong enough to play alone up front but not at the expense of VdV.

On the manager; AVB promoted evolution not revolution and that he had learned from his Chelsea mistakes. The following nods from AVB contradict this:
- selling Dawson for £9m and keeping Gallas
- selling thud when he is one of our two best passers.
- letting VdV go.
- playing jenas and livrrmore over a fit again thud in two matches that needed some creativity.

Of course I will give be him time, but the warning signs are there. I detested Sir Twitchy but am far from convnced by these changes.

I am of the opionion that none of the signings so far have been AVB's. We were in for Verts and Sig long before AVB was mentioned, and Dembele strikes me as a Levy signing. We have also been scouting Remy for at least 12 months, Levy is basically deciding the transfer policy for ins and OUTS.

Dawson won't be sold because of Kaboul's persistent knee problems, but in anycase he couldnt be more unsuited to AVB's high line. It's up to VDV and for family reasons if VDV is sold, AVB by all accounts wants to keep him but it seems VDV is open to the move. He is also 29 with dodgy hamstrings with not long left on his contract, so it makes sense to sell him especially when an offer of 16M has been placed.

AVB showed nothing at Chelsea, so wouldn't expect that much from him however...

Huddlestone's move to Stoke was apparently comprimised due to the fee because their medical team found a chronic ankle problem, even if a player is top class, if they can't play they aren't any good and Huddlestone is one dimensional.. as I've said about Hernandez and a dozen others, when there are players out there who are excellent in every aspect of their game, keeping a guy who can do one thing isn't a particularly good idea. Huddlestone is immensely replaceable, hasn't been fit, and isn't particularly good. Of course Stoke decided that Ba's knee couldn't handle premiership football either ;)

Dawson, other than an injury prone player, isn't the best CB around and might simply want to leave for one reason or another. VDV's wife lives in Germany, he wants to be within banging range, can you blame him? Ultimately career's good, hot wife is better, he wants to live in Germany.

Also its not rare to not play someone you are trying to offload, especially if they have a dodgy ankle and you don't want it aggrevated before a medical.

As a Spurs fan I want Rafa to stay 100%

As a man - GET TO GERMANY NOW!

He did show now not to do it.

Part of me thinks if he was given another season or two, he'd have really got some youth into the squad and got them into winners.

That said, I can in no way disagree with the current manager and his signings, they seem bloody spot on :D

Poor scott sinclair. Will land up as another potential star wasted at a CL before he is really ready. He looked excellent but needed a season or two more to really develop before a club like city where he could expect to sit on the bench for the next season/

Phil McNulty ‏@philmcnulty

Everton in pole position for Copenhagen's Bryan Oviedo. WBA not in the picture and a deal worth around £5m looks likely before tomorrow.

I wonder if he'll be cover for Baines or put out on the wing... :/

I'd have fun warming their bench for hundred grand a week.

People keep missing the point, in a perfect world everyone goes to a team where they play the most often and win everything, in reality very very few players end up somewhere they win or anywhere they can be certain to play. He could stay at Swansea, get a career ending injury tomorrow and never play again.

He's signed a huge contract that will be on vastly more than he was on at Swansea and almost certainly more than he could get anywhere else, he'll play a bit, win stuff, and either if he moves on in 4 years, or gets a career ending injury, he'll leave football a multimillionaire with a basically secure future. Assuming he wants a family(or has one) that will be the most important thing anyway.

Same with Green, he could end up number 2 at West Ham as well, just on way less money, who cares that QPR got another keeper, he got a better deal and a better contract at QPR, he'll be delighted.

Very few players will have regretted signing for Chelsea/Real/Barca/City, getting a huge wage and barely playing if at all... possibly none.

Its funny because people are saying Sinclair will be a bench warmer. Yet no one has ever mentioned that when Moses, Marin, Oscar and Hazard all joined this summer to add to Malouda, Lampard, Mikel and Ramires.

Bit like when Nasri joined. Except he ended up starting more games for us last season then he did for Arsenal the year before.

I think he will be a good signing and will give us something we lack. For the price and a not incredibly inflated wage he will be a good buy.

I have been saying that since the start of the summer. :D

I think Sinclair will play a vital role for City... he can play on either wing and I'd rather have him over Milner any day of the week, especially you carry on with that 3-5-2 thin!
