The BBC have picked up on the Adam to Stoke stories; like the Times and Telegraph, they're reporting the fee as £5m. I'd have hoped we could have got more for him but seeing as we're actively looking to sell to raise funds for Dempsey, we're not in a great bargaining position.

Even then, and even assuming Welbeck was actually better - why was Fergie so keen to keep on Berbatov? Was he too ashamed to admit he signed a £32m striker that simply hasn't worked out/was never going to fit his system?

I think the whole situation is more than a little bit strange.

The club extended Berba's contract to get a fee for him (whether that fee gets paid back to Berba for lost wages will never be known, perhaps Berba is moving JUST to play whether it "costs" him that money or not)


People have to be blind not to see that Berba never worked at Utd, even in his best season (two years ago) he scored more despite the tactics etc not because of them, and even then he wasnt 1/2 as good as folklore will have you believe (given the amount of games that completely passed him by without even thinking about the golden chances he missed)

Still not convinced by Welbeck, yes he has the odd moment of brilliance, but I was far more convinced by Chicharito in his first season than Welbeck in 11-12 (even if chicharito is more one dimensional). Certainly dont think Welbeck is worth the obscene amount of money his new contract is supposed to be work (£80-90k/week) after one season.
