We will need to replace Dawson though- how long can Gallas play for? He is cack already! It would be massively shortsighted for us to play Livermore at CB- we have 5 CBs already to end up with none available is absurd. Gilly I think he is awesome Dawson and not cack :P

We have 2 CB's at the moment so don't complain! :p

Seaborne doesn't count because a. he's rubbish, b. he played on Tuesday and was out done by some lanky kid Stevenage had on and c. Ipswich are apparently in for him which is beyond hilarious!

This is why every Saints fan is gritting his teeth in anger because we will get relegated by christmas if we don't buy at least one CB (2 would help)

“@TonyBarretTimes: Liverpool are set to sign Samed Yesil, an 18 year old forward, from Bayer Leverkusen for a fee in the region of £1 million.”

Interesting. Tony pretty much almost bang on with info.

Off to YouTube to check him out.

For all of his class, skill and play he didn't really strike up a partnership at the club with Rooney, nor did he score across a consistent run of games with 1-2 here, he had big scoring matches where he'd turn up and score 3 or 5.

In 2010/11 he scored 3 vs Liverpool in September he then didn't score again until he scored five against Blackburn in November(ish, I think). That's 8 of his 20 goal season, he then scored a hat trick against Wigan in December from what I remember which is 11 of them - I can't find a list of goals vs who and how many etc, those are just from memory.
.

I seem to recall it was something like 15 of the league goals were scored in 5 matches which some fans on here want to completely ignore

Sometimes he was completely unplayable, but unfortunately (for Utd at least) majority of the time he didnt really turn up

We definitely would need to replace Huddlestone and VDV.

Sig is not a creative midfielder, he just seems to attack the box (which is excellent and not to be sniffed at). Dembele is creative, but who is the backup? What a lovely option to have VdV to come on for either Dembele or Sig to turn a game. I thought he was superb against Newcastle and West Brom.

On Thud- his argument is the weakest of the three but without another player definitely coming into creative CM, he should not be sold; he is on peanuts wages and would yield relatively small amounts of cash.

Why on earth should we be thinking of these when we have Bentley, Dos Santos, Jenas, Bhgamo and Gomes (who I like but is clearly never playing for us again) on our books?

we shouldn't have sold pav, we shouldn't have sold niko, valuable squad players. the problem with VDV is that he can't play 90 minutes and he can't track back, couple this with us signing sig and it makes sense that we should cash in on him because he wants to play football, he wont be happy on our bench and then there's the fact of him and his missus.

huddlestone is a good utility player but he's not at a level we should be looking at. the occassional sweet goal and long pass doesn't quite cut it. he's a physical presence but he's not fast or agile enough, nor will he charge forward enough to make him stand out. he is a stoke kind of player.

we wont be creating much through the centre with modric gone but we can stay tight and difficult to penetrate in the centre, parker, dembele and sandro can provide this and we attack down the flanks and (hopefully) execute something on the edge of the box or in the box.

13 of them came in four games - Liverpool, Blackburn, Birmingham, Blackpool.

Virtually? It was confirmed last night wasn't it?

It's reported in local news as £4.5m rising to 8 on additions.

Not confirmed, it's all pending medical & personal terms.

As for the fee, there are differing rumours flying around about it. Local reports are that it's effectively a "guaranteed" £8 million.

The problem with VdV is that he's completely anonymous for entire games, and when he's the central source of assists and goals, that's a problem, and increases pressure on the wing.

He's got a great eye on him, but he's not consistent enough, and even if he has little attention from the opposition he can go missing for long periods. You expect that of a striker, as they are largely dependant on the quality of play supplying them, but when you are one of those doing the supplying and going missing, it's an issue.

He's great to watch, and some of interlinking with Adebayor borders on unplayable... he just doesn't do it enough for me. I think if you were to lose him, it wouldn't be a loss. Sigurdsson can play a similar role while offering more when you lose possession.

Only if certain goal tallies are reached and Premiership promotion achieved.

According to whom? That's not what's being branded about on the BRFCS forum by the supposed "In the Knowers".

If it is indeed based on promotion, good luck Huddersfield ever seeing that cash :p

Berbatov's 20 goals;

1 v Newcastle (h)
1 v West Ham (h)
1 v Everton (a)
3 v Liverpool (h)
5 v Blackburn (h)
1 v Sunderland (h)
1 v Birmingham (a)
3 v Birmingham (5)
2 v Blackpool (a)
1 v Bolton (h)
1 v Fulham (h)

So 20 goals scored across 11 games of a 38 game league season

IIRC the argument at the time was more to do with how Tevez's 20 goals that season also came across a similar small number of games
