Berbatov's 20 goals;

1 v Newcastle (h)
1 v West Ham (h)
1 v Everton (a)
3 v Liverpool (h)
5 v Blackburn (h)
1 v Sunderland (h)
1 v Birmingham (a)
3 v Birmingham (5)
2 v Blackpool (a)
1 v Bolton (h)
1 v Fulham (h)

So 20 goals scored across 11 games of a 38 game league season

IIRC the argument at the time was more to do with how Tevez's 20 goals that season also came across a similar small number of games

Hmm he dont score away from home much either :p

If Spurs end up with Dembele and Llorente...we should have been going after them. Llorente is younger than RvP, has a comparable scoring record, is far more suited to our style of play and would possibly be on lower wages. Dembele while not better than Kagawa is probably more the sort of player we needed to boost the midfield, really we could have done with both.

Llorente's not that much younger, he's what 27 1/2 whereas RVP is only just 29, I'd also be rather wary over how considerably Llorente faded at the end of last season, Spain preferred to play no striker rather than him at the Euro's as well

Cant see Spurs getting him anyway

I'm convinced the Llorente to Spurs thing has been in place for absolutely yonks, theres been far too many rumours for far too long for there to have been nothing in it. If we do get him though, well I'll be very very happy :D

paying someone probably £100k per week to warm the bench for nearly 2 yrs has quite a lot to do with it tbf.

a senior member of the squad will always be paid that amount - so it makes little difference (actually thats pretty cheap compared to some wage figures flying around)

Wages in the grand scheme of things dont mean as much as fans want to think (obviously paying Man Utd wages somewhere like Stoke isnt a justifable comparison) - with gate reciepts and tv revenues and sponsorships it isnt as much as it appears.

The Berba experiment just didnt work for Utd, and most fans know /admit this (and have probably known this for several seasons). Why Utd couldnt get him moved on before this will probably come out in time

Imo however giving Welbeck 85k/week or whatever at this point of his career is pretty crazy however good he appears to those in the know.

According to whom? That's not what's being branded about on the BRFCS forum by the supposed "In the Knowers".

If it is indeed based on promotion, good luck Huddersfield ever seeing that cash :p

Look North last night, that's why I thought it was done and dusted.

Llorente's not that much younger, he's what 27 1/2 whereas RVP is only just 29, I'd also be rather wary over how considerably Llorente faded at the end of last season, Spain preferred to play no striker rather than him at the Euro's as well

That's also true of a £50m man!

Goodbye Berbatov. :(

Gone but never forgotten.

Bye Berbagod. :(

Remember my jaw hitting the floor when Berbs pulled that off. Then had my utd mates singing his praises solidly for the next week (just that week mind :p)
