Biz your tone has shifted so much through this transfer window. It's gone from confident of signings of the likes of Martinez, De Rossi, I'm sure you mentioned a top forward as well, (not sure about your opinion on Agger) shifting to 'Rodwell has great potential and can fill in in defence.'

It's nice in a way.

When people like Martinez and De Rossi are touted then of course you have to be confident. There were a lot of rumours that we had sent people to Spain and Italy. Coupled with phone calls that Mancini had been making to De Rossi apparently it just looked like it might have happened.

I don't remember mentioning a forward. We would have signed someone had Dzeko/Tevez left so. I rate Agger but not at 27m. I thought a deal would have been done, a compromise between the two clubs but instead we have gone for Nastasic who has a lot of potential and two players in Garcia and Rodwell who can play in defence.

I was going to mention this.

I think Biz feels so surrounded and put upon by all you ManU fans he feels the need to put an uber-positive spin in everything. :D:D:D

Personally I think City's dealings were ****. They traded down in Sinclair/Johnson, Maicon is past it, Wright?!? Seriously wtf?!? and I'm not convinced Garcia is an improvement on Jong.

City will obviously still be up there but they had a bad day at the office this transfer window.

Which bank did Everton rob to get all the money? :p

the bank of Liverpool FC :)

First time in ages im happy with a transfer window (as an everton fan).

It was about time we sold Rodwell (shame we didnt last year when higher offers were being spoke about), but it also meant we didnt need to get rid of any of our stars either :)

Well you can think what you like of course. I honestly feel we have done well. Of course signing Martinez, Cavani, De Rossi and so on would have been better but it hasn't happened.

I do like how everyone thinks Sinclair is a trade down from Johnson. You will all be surprised. I am sure people know I am a huge fan of Johnson, even had a picture of him as my sig for a while. He has really fallen away recently and it isn't through lack of playing.

You can argue about the Maicon signing all you like. Mancini knows him better than us so I will trust his opinion. From the highlights of the past few years he is still a very good player.

Well De Jong rejected every contract offer we gave him so we had to move him on. Garcia was probably 3rd choice behind Martinez and De Rossi but is still a very good player in his own right according to various reporters/Benfica fans.

Martinez and De Rossi if were honest have always been out of reach as much as I have wanted them to happen and have clinged onto any bit of information regarding them.

What player would you have brought in if we say that the above two are completely out of reach?

Whats been good about this transfer window is we havent just seen the usual roundabout of solid uninspiring players moving sideways between clubs and both the club and the player going nowhere.

We've seen some real talent moving about, across clubs of all sizes, looks like there are a lot of managers now have got the message that the only way to get anywhere in the game is to go out and try and win when they play rather than to not get beat.

Its going to be a good season.

Absolute car crash of a transfer window for spurs.

We lost our two best players, failed to get adequate strikers, now have 4 keepers on the books, only got ride of one piece of deadwood and threw two games in achieving this.

We have 2 strikers now, we lost our two main sources of creativity and two world class players. We spent that money on dembele, sight and Dempsey. This is hardly good business from spurs.

Am absolutely gutted VdV went. He brought a great mindset, genuine world class play and was a legend after 2 seasons.

To end up with 3 players from middling premiership teams stinks of us becoming a middling premiership team.

We have 1 striker who can play the lone striker role. Defoe is the backup. What a stupid set of transfers.

lol.

Garcia is an improvement on NDJ and Barry. As well as being young and has scope for improvement.
Sinclair is an improvement on Johnson. As well as being cheaper and younger.
Rodwell provides us with good backup in midfield. Great potential for the future.
Nastasic provides us with backup at CB. Again, he has great potential.
Maicon provides us with a still class RWB/RB as well as providing more depth in defence.

The best thing about this window is that we have got rid of everyone we needed to saving a ton of wages that we can then use on the new signings.

I guarantee this time next year you'll be looking at getting at least 2 of those out of the club and no Sinclair is not better than Adam Johnson

So happy newcastle kept hold of everyone.

Shame we couldnt get a defender in but oh well.

Glad Liverpool didn't do too well either :) Shame Spurs seemed to have actually bought well

What are Newcastle going to do when the ACN is on? Is the January transfer window open before that tournament?

What are Newcastle going to do when the ACN is on? Is the January transfer window open before that tournament?

Final qualifier for the ACN is Senegal vs Ivory Coast, Ivory Coast have won/almost won most of the tournaments in recent history, Senegal usually get nowhere and are one of the lowest ranked teams in the pool( Ivory coast are the highest seeded or second maybe, EDIT:- Senegal are top of the second pot, which points wise is miles off top of pot 1).

So basically its impossible for them to lose Tiote, Ba and Cisse, and the likelyhood is Ivory Coast go through, Tiote goes the ACN and Ba and Cisse won't which is really what Newcastle will be hoping for, and have Vernon who looks like he might be half decent as cover. If Ba/Cisse go, well, they went last year and Newcastle coped fine.

ACN 19th Jan - 10th Feb, Reading Home, villa away, Chelsea Home, Spurs away. I'd think with or without Ba/Cisse Newcastle would expect to win two and not hope for more than draw's from the other two anyway. a 2 week break before the game after that giving them a chance to rest and its Southampton aswell so its not a terrible run of games to do without them.

I assume they need to be there 1-2 weeks early, again they have Norwich the week before, and Everton is 2 weeks before that almost so three very winable games without their strikers and 2 they'd be hoping for a draw anyway with a 2 week break before/after those games. I don't think it will make/break their season at all.

Very impressive window for Southampton overall.

In
Gazza (GK)
Clyne (RB)
Maya Yoshida (CB)
Davis (CM)
Ramirez (LW?)
Mayuka (CF?)
Rodriguez (CF)

Out
Connelly (free agent)
Jaidi (Retired)
Bartosz Bialkowski (free to notts county)
Dan Harding (500k to Forest)
Lee Holmes (free Preston)
Dean Hammond (loan to Brighton)
Billy Sharp (loan to Forest)
Lee Barnard (loan to Bournemouth)
Forte (loan to Crawley)
Aaron Martin (loan to Palace)
Tommy Forecast (loan to Gillingham)

I think we are the 3rd highest net spenders and 6th biggest spenders overall. Of the 7 guys we have bought in, 4 of them are amazing, Maya should be good (captain of Japan), Gazza is one for the future and Rodriguez should get better if not stuck on the wing.

Best bit is we have off loaded most of the hangers on, most of the loan movers reflect who is really a champ/l1 player (and in Forecast's case not even a sunday league player). I doubt many will come back apart from Martin (though he's not having the best time at Palace).

Still got Chaplow hanging about who wont get many games and Butterfield who at a guess is going to get up in some sort of coaching role with the development squad opposed to a lot of first team.

Overall, a new keeper may turn up by xmas, along with a new LB/CB as Seaborne at 4th choice still worries me, but it's been an excellent summer of deals! Cannot believe some of the quality that has been added.

Ok. We will see.

He really is. I guarantee that Sinclair does better for us then Johnson does unless he completely turns his lifestyle around.

Look at that Southampton have signed a CM, god dammit they had a better transfer window than us :mad::mad::mad::mad:!!!

they actually have a chance at not going straight back down :D

(which I hope is the case as I have a soft spot for them, even if I am hoping they dont get a point tomorrow lol)

:D we have 3!!!! All quality! Plus a couple of kids that should develop into class players and Chaplow, you can have him if you want, real work horse with minimal skill on the ball...

Its surprised me how most teams seem to have sold CM's and not really bought any...

Yes! Someone believes :D even if its not been going well on the pitch so far...

Very pleased, just glad no one else (Baines, Fellaini, Heitinga, Jags) got sold. Still annoying that its sell to buy but I'm glad it was Rodwell that went and for what was a bit of a silly price to be honest.

What ? Yet again everton have had a negative net spend this transfer window, all signings were financed by the sale of other players.

I think we have spent minus 4.5m in total

The minus figure doesn't bother me at all. With wise spending I'm more than happy with the out going versus the incoming. It's the nature of our finances. You can bet if any of our forwards have a stunning season they will be moving on for 20m next season. If it takes shipping our an average player like Rodwell for decent money to finance it so be it. As Azza said better him than any of the 10 players in the squad better than him ;)

I think the club did some really good business for the short and long term with what they bought. It remains to be seen how Moyes sets them up with more attacking options but I don't feel so sore about losing Cahill.
