Got my letter today. I thought the way the letter was written was appalling, they're trying to make it sound as if they are doing me a favour by including a so called £3 loyalty discount which is already included in their hiked £20 price.

What a bunch of amateurs. Good bye three, I hardly ever used text, calls or Internet and yet they still want to try and rip me off.

I'm in the same boat, came home to the letter. Was on the 12-month sim only plan for £20/month. I barely use any calls or texts, mostly only use data. My current phone is the HTC One M8. I will phone them up to see what they can offer but I'm also tempted to get a new phone, not sure if they offer upgrades or do part exchanges, as my account says it can't be upgraded online.

The whole thing does sound completely bizarre really. The way it's been done is very strange and I'm unsure what purpose it solved.

I used to pay £17 a month for AYCE Data, 2000 minutes and unlimited texts. I used perhaps 2gb of data a month, what did moving me achieve really? They are still offering comparably priced packages on their website and indeed after 30 minutes of arguing I ended up with £15 a month for unlimited texts/calls and 4Gb of data - zero change to me yet they now take less money off me.

If it was about people abusing the data surely all they needed to do was just change the T&C's and stick a cap on it? Job done, no need to force anyone off.

Well I am now fully ported over to EE on the 16GB SIM only plan, couldn't get it for £16 but £20 is still good and the signal and speeds are far better than 3 for me.

Yeah I agree about the letter it was worded quite badly, and the CS when I called were hard work as usual, compared to EE's which was a breeze.

Just got around to calling 3, was offered the £14 12 month sim plan, 4 GB data etc.

Going to wait and see what is what with this new roaming/EU stuff at the end of the month and then decide.

Are you referring to Three or other operators. I know at the moment Three have home from home a a few EU countries.

I also remember hearing something a while back that OFCOM have told all operators to loose their roaming charges, iirc they were doing this in two stages.

Other operators.

Supposedly Tesco mobile will be changing their roaming charges amongst other networks at the end of this month iirc so will sit tight and see how things go, only reason I would stick with 3 is for the abroad thing.

Received my letter. I was only paying £15 for unlimited everything (near enough). I argued with them and now I get 600 mins, unlimited texts and 8GB data for £16. Rolling 1 month.

What I found bizarre is that they couldn't offer discount on the 12 month contracts. None of what they're doing makes any sense.

Should be £12 for 4GB data, unlimited calls/texts on a 12 month contract. That's what they offered me and some others.

I spent an hour on live chat quizzing them which led to everything I asked being no.

I asked why they couldn't offer the £20 AYCE data for 12 months @£13 when they could offer the £21 AYCE calls for 12 months @£12. They said they weren't allowed. I even pointed out that I wanted to pay them more money for a service I hardly use but want, but they couldn't do anything.

I asked if they could they could do anything on the 1 month rolling version of the AYCE calls/texts 4GB, they said they couldn't.

Found out that tethering isn't allowed in a Feel at Home destination.

I can buy additional units of 4GB data for £5.

I can't pay for the entire 12 months up front and receive a discount, they are unable to handle payment that way.

In the end I accepted their offer, mostly because I want Feel at Home for another year. More than likely would have been better off on their PAYG.

Ah ok, if nothing changes about roaming on other networks then I'll try to get that instead although it isn't so much the price for me but more being tied into a 12 month contract that I don't like.

7 days in to my new contract with 3 and i'm already through 5gb of my 8gb usage. Decided to buy the ayce data/2oo mins for £18 and then transfer my number asap. Got 3 to 3 minutes to help mitigate the 200 mins.

Looks like i'm a glutton for punishment with 3, let's see how they change this tariff after 12 months.

Simple way to use less data, buy an SD card, and download songs onto it rather than streaming constantly.

I rarely use more than 2 or 3 gb and I surf constantly on my phone.

How does it work? can you transfer existing number?
How much tethered data? Is it 30gb?

I got the letter a couple if days before they changed to 30gb, so this month I only have 12gb AMD I'm assuming when it renews i'll still have 12ggb without making a phone call.

still looking - handed in my notice and got PAC - got till 4th of May I think

12gb and 600 mins seems not bad at £20 a month although 12 month contract :(

What are you actually doing with your data to have used up 5gb already?!
I average just a tad over 1gb a month using twitter, email, browsing, redditing and the odd youtube vid here and there.
