Do these actually work? I've seen a few cars with them now in blue/red which are an eye sore, but I'm days away from having my wheels refurbed in gloss black and now seriously considering having them fitted in a more suitable colour.

For reference its these (or its equivalent) which is pretty good value given the alleged level of protection it offers.

Vids can be found on youtube

Maybe just get rim protector tyres. These don't seem to look very good.

The Rimblade ones are just stuck to the alloy using 3M tape.
The better version are alloygator as they hook over the alloy edge, I had a set years ago and they were great easy to fit and lasted years, We had some fitted to another car earlier this year and have had to go back a few times for them to refit the passenger front wheel the last time we took it back they said they have had alot of issues and think the materials or design has slightly changed and have infact stopped fitting them now.

This, very rarely does the brightly coloured rim look work on a car.

Alloygators are the ones. A hard plastic material. I have RimBands on mine which are similar, they fit under the tyre and over the alloy edge but are made from a soft rubber. They have protected my alloys (Since fitting them I just learnt to park better :p) but they have discoloured badly and look gash now. Getting them removed soon.

Ahhh this explains why the 120d near me has a red ring on all the tyres. I thought it was a boy racer thing.

Just get decent tyres with rim protectors built in. Those plastic things are up there with bonnet bra's imo.

Maybe the best option is learn to park properly and you won't need to waste money on that tat on the car. Never had issues parking as I am careful not to scratch the rim of the wheel. The wife on the other hand has wheel rims like shark teeth......

sometimes it just happens, even if you're a god at parking. Or sometimes you need to take evasive action in a narrow road and it might be a choice between a collision or an alloy scuff.

Silver/Grey or Black would just blend into the tyre or wheel wouldn't they?

My tyres have rim protection on. If you park slowly, you hear the tyre rubbing before you chunk the wheel.
