am i going to kill myself?

Anyway, is this thread going back on topic, have you been able to get a quote for a turbo?

you guys really are doubters of how capable a sport is arent you?
i believe it was Johnfelstead who in his sport would be tormenting turbos around a track.
its not THAT slow a car.

Depends on the driver though. Just because someone has a fast car doesnt mean they know how to use it. If you cloned that guy and put one in a Sport and one in a Turbo I wonder which one would win ;).

Like I said earlier, in the wet, he rated his sport over his turbo. He also reckoned over cross country (ie, not a straight line) the Sport isn't far off the turbo.

I havent looked for quotes yet, due to they'll ask my current age etc, which in this case they will just say no, so I am just waiting to be a bit older to get some quotes.
If they can't insure me on a turbo then i'm putting a 2.5 in my sport :p

How a car actually fares on the road against the clock is far more relevant than the sort of wildly varying, arbitrary numbers that some bloke with a set of rollers, a big fan, a computer and a laser printer gives you in exchange for 50 quid.

That's me I'm not going to take this poor guys thread any further off topic by repeatedly refuting subjective and/or anecdotal non-facts :)

Regarding the question at hand:

If you can afford the insurance - get the scooby turbo, you clearly like them and they are great cars. Just don't be fooled (like the 20 year old buyer of my first scooby) into thinking it will always get you out of trouble no matter how hard you push it because, despite them being relatively high, it still has its limits and it can bite. The buyer I speak of wrote my car off 2 weeks after he bouight it when he tried to take a near 90 degree bend at 65+ and whacked a tree (he was fine by the way!)

These cars can be driven at 8/10 by just about everyone and they do flatter to deceive but those final 2 tenths are what separate a normal driver from a good one and you'll be in license losing and or life threatening territory if you try to test yourself. Therein lies both the strength and the weakness of the scooby in a nutshell: so composed, secure and flattering at legal speeds that if you feel the need to get your jollies on the public highway you'll need even more power or just plain have to drive too fast. If you want to find the limits then take it to the track trust me...;)

This thread is highly amusing!

Your trying to get insured (under your own name? i presume) on a turbo Impreza. hahahaha have fun my friend. Please ring around and come back and post your findings.

Do you mind me asking how much disposable income you would have a month to spend on your Impreza Turbo?

1.4k a month after tax just for a car and your what 18, umm.

Yup, leave school, don't bother with Uni, get a full time job straight off whilst still living at home and you can have that sort of disposable income. Where do you think the money for the thousands and thousands some 17-18 year olds spend modding Corsas comes from? The money-now lure of employment right after school is too great for some.

Great short term gain, not so great in the long term though.

I know, how dare someone get a job instead of going to Uni. He should be on the dole.
