Didn't know you'd killed your Supra, shame. I say go for it, if it helps think of the fact that the UK TT has a better diff than the N/A so should theoretically be harder to crash :P plus it has duel airbags so if you do manage it your passenger is less likely to die :D

One thing to look out for though is that iirc the were only ~640 UKDM Supras sold so finding one in good nick that hasn't been BPU'd may be a problem, and going from a NA Supra to a ~400bhp one may take some getting used to. If you check out mkivsupra.net they have a good guide for what to look for/avoid but I guess you already know that from your previous ownership.

Another thing I would point out though is that although the UKDM Supra is the highest spec one the JDM GZ isn't that far off, unless the UKDM specifically has something you want like its heated seats, glass headlights with washer jets, softer suspension setup or optional cream interior then its just dead weight.

Who wants to buy a Ibiza Cupra then? :p

*awaits forum member telling me no car sales, advertising*

I thought it was pretty much accepted that members could advertise/sell there car in there sig, Am I wrong ?

Starting bid = 42 quids. It's a cash offer obviously. :D

Ubersonic, yeah i'm a member over there. I know all the difference between the different models.

I want a UK spec because of all the additional bits plus it being a UK model makes insurance a hella of a lot cheaper for me. Not looking at BPU models, anything I get with any mods (induction kit etc) I will be returning to stock, same with wheels.

I like the GT86 but I just don't have the love for it.

My old supra isn't dead but it will work out cheaper to sell it, rather than fix it and then sell it.

This reeks of a mid life crisis, and your only 21 correct?

Keep the cupra, accept your new car purchase mistake. It's the sensible decision, until you can afford to run a supra and a 2nd car for when you crash (hopefully not into anyone else)...

Think of it this way.

You've lost money on the Ibiza (that money is gone) and it's losing money every day in depreciation. A good Supra TT will lose very little money and may even appreciate in value as they become even more rare. Therefore by buying the Supra you're actually saving money. Even if you take potential repairs into account they're that, potential. Granted, the Supra will require more frequent maintenance but if you know where to get the parts and how to save money, I can't see the extra repair costs of the Supra ever outweighing the guaranteed losses due to depreciation on the Ibiza.

Swap and get the Supra, you're early 20's and still have the enthusiasm to tinker with cars. You don't need a new car.:)

Ive got a 96 Supra TT J-spec, had is nearly 10 years now, ive been thinking about changing cars when it finally breaks, but the thing is, it just wont break! 160k or so on the clock, its still a brilliant car and very ahead of its time

So yea, Get a Supra

And that just reeks of postponing your midlife crisis until later. When it will be much worse. :)

I run a 1995 MR2 turbo as my only car. I use it every day and it is brilliant, nothing beats the feeling of getting into a special car for every journey. I can only imagine a TT Supra would be even more brilliant.

If you can afford to do it and want to do it, then do it.

Just think about the difference in depreciation between the Supra and the Ibiza. It almost makes financial sense :)

Thanks for the info.

Anyway.....

In many ways I think it would indeed be a retarded decision. However, if you can afford it, and really want one, now's the time to do it regardless of losing money on your Cupra and whatever else. Get it out of your system, but don't kill yourself whilst doing so.

I personally don't like Supras that much, but being in your shoes and having the same opportunity for my realistic dream car, I'd take it, no doubt.
