Am I too old for games

I'm 35 and still going strong, been gaming my whole life from the age of 10 when I got the Spectrum for Christmas!

Sure I have less time now with a wife to keep happy, and I don’t get quite as excited as I did as a kid reading about the latest ‘Crash Smash’, but I find games can be just as addicting in later life.

I’ve spent a lot of time and money over the piece, like anyone who has a season ticket for the football or is into cars etc. I like those things too, in fact I enjoy lots of popular culture which is good to keep yourself interested in life but not so good for the bank balance!

The awkwardness is in telling women that I enjoy games. But that’s a whole different topic!
Why would it not be something you’d bring up on a date, whereas saying that you sat on the sofa and watched endless episodes of Desperate Housewives get you brownie points?

I used to race online with a guy in his late sixties and he was very good, he was also very good at helping out when we technical issues with our PC's.

If you enjoy it then keep doing it. People don't say you should stop watching films or reading books when you get older - why should games be any different?

Hi all, I've allways been into PC games, I'm actually 39 tommorrow(wed) & still enjoy a game of BF2, rise of nations,X3, flight simulator 2004 amongst a few others, I allways cringe a bit when people ask me what I'm into because it's mostly PC games ( my only other interests are going to the gym but gaming is my main ) & I dont like telling people TBH.
Is there anyone on here who is my sort of age or am I the oldest one on here and need to grow up.

My age of conan guild is (was till recently) made up of 40+ members only, playing bouts 10 hours/day each. :D

I'm the same age and have started wow which server you on Azagoth lol :D

Past conversions with the wife about gaming is

me "I'm away to have a game and chat"

her "Talking to 13 year olds again huh?"

me "No actually other adults are online as well gaming"

her "Sounds silly to me"

me "Ok I'm off out to the pub instead then!" ;)

You need to show her what her place is, the kitchen :p.

Will prolly be a gamer forever.

im 34 been gaming since i was 6 years old and i aint stopping...EVER!Your never to old for games as its another form of entertainment;)

rofl they should do a senior citizens gaming championship!

But nah games arent limited to how old you are.

I've recently turned 30 and have no intentions of stopping. I'm actually one of the younger ones in my COD4 clan.
Then again, we don't allow anyone under 20 to join.

39. When I was a kid, playing Elite on the BBCB, *most* people older than me didnt play. So were the first generation that has been this age who have been playing games since we were kids. In 20 years time this generation will be sitting there going '40 year old gamers? Noobs.'

39 here - nearly 40. Still enjoy gaming, but I now have a 5-year-old son don't have as much time to do it. The wife's recently stopped moaning about me going off to play games for the odd hour in the evening - makes me nervous.

Ginga

Wow old thread revival much?

Since it is back up, I think Nintendo Wii has actually helped take the stigma out of Gamers. Previously gaming was considered by the majority to only be for geeks, fatties and lazy people.

I will keep gaming til I die tbh :P I dont want to turn into one of those old people who are scared of technology.

It still has that stigma, but now for older fatties geeks and lazies.

I can't go a day without my friends badgering me about how I had no life because I played warcraft. :( I'm not old though...
