Am I wrong to want an Impreza?

Anyone considering an Impreza should look at an Octavia vRS before buying if you ask me. Much nicer car, granted they're FWD but give it some extra air and a remap, you'll have loads more torque and a much more pleasureable driving experience

This depends on whether or not the person considering an Impreza knows it is... oh I can't be bothered, but if you're saying my Octavia is a much more pleasurable driving experience than an STi then I'll be bloody annoyed. :p

I've had a WRX and an STi and to compare them on speed alone is missing the point. The Sti is much more of a 'focussed' drivers car, the WRX more of a fast saloon.

Unless you are *absolutely* sure that you want a WRX because of the type of driving you do/enjoy then fine....

Pretty much after a fast saloon to be honest. Feel the STI would be a little too hardcore for me.

Hopefully I'll be able to go and take a look at a couple of WRX's over the coming week or so.:)

That's fair enough, but just be sure that's what you want!. Yes, the ride on the STI is noticably firmer, and can be a bit harsh for some. But be aware that if you buy a classic STI it will be an import, with the implications for insurance. Only bugeyes and later have UK STIs.

Imprezas are just too hardcore, the power delivery is brutal from what I've driven. Much prefer the smoothness and gutsy feel of an Octavia

I was interested in them until I ran some insurance quotes.

RB5 (realise its not a standard turbo 2000, but they are all horrible chav chariots now, and its a little special). £1400 FC.
BMW E36 M3 £1300 FC

My GTI-6, £450 FC.

Ill stick with that for a year or two until im 25 I think!

What about an evo 3?

I was out in one at the weekend, and for the price, its an amazing car. Really quick cars, 4WD, 4 doors etc.

If this is what you want you should also consider a turbo'd Subaru Legacy B4. While you will be paying import rates on the insurance, you have much less chance of ending up with a car that has previously been owned by a chav, and much less attention from chavs and thieves generally.

If I had the money I'd get the limited edition Legacy B4 STI, absolutely stunning car

Also LOL at the people suggesting an Evo after he said that an STI was too hardcore.

Evo's and their servicing costs etc doesn't make for an ideal every day family car.

Lum however has hit the nail on the head, you have no idea how much I'd love a Legacy B4. Stunning cars, same engine and gearbox etc as the Impreza = a lot of power easily too!

Was looking at the older B4 RSK last night, always wanted one and they are a bit cheaper than when I last looked :)

The type of person buying an Impreza wont be saying "oh no the power delivery is too brutal"

I owned a MY99 Turbo for just over a year, easily the best car ive owned. Sure its not an STi but its still awesome to drive.

I loved it for the sound alone, had a Green Air Filter and Cat back Blitz NURSpec R exhaust... just pure grins everytime I drove it, never got bored of it, although if you have neighbours you may get complaints for the noise :D

I will own another one day, definitely an STi this time.
