AM4 gets yet more CPU's

I need to look into how the 5800X3D scales with faster RAM to get an idea of the 5700's scaling, can't imagine if you used 3600 DDR4 it'd be THAT hampered (?)
A quick look at someone on Reddit doing that shows a 0-9% improvement (usually barely 2%) from 3200>3733 so I reckon i'd be safe with my 3600 for now.

i seen the 5800x3d dose scales with faster RAM ISH! but 3600mhz low latency is all you need really.

Mine literally just arrived.

Might have a fiddle tomorrow.

i seen this yesterday, the gap on the 5600x3d and 5800x3d is next to nothing but they have about the same clock speeds.. this is the only thing that's worry's my about the 5700x3d been about 10% lower clocked. why did AMD send any out for review,,,
I ordered a 5700x when i thought the 5700x3d was going to be a few months away, depending on how it performs i may just keep the 5700x as i know how that will perform. it is still sealed in the postage bag right now

They didn't send the 5600X3D out for review either. Steve at GN bought one from Microcenter.

I would imagine it is part of the cost slashing. IE, sending out a ton of review samples for a CPU you want to cost as little as possible would just make it cost more.

TBH I don't know how many of these they have made. It may be quite low numbers, just to literally get rid of either failed 5800X3D stock or 5800X3D stock that people don't want to pay that much for.

Edit. I would not worry about the clock speed. That is NOT what makes the 3D so good at gaming. It's the 3D cache, which is only really good for gaming. That is why I am not worried about it being that much slower than a 5800X3D. Then again even if it is? it is still clocked higher than my 3950x, a generation ahead AND has the 3D cache.

Back in 2020 when I bought the 3950x I was not gaming. At all. It was all creation. Since then I met my mates and now play games all week. So every CPU I have bought since then has been purely gaming based. The 12700K was the replacement gaming chip for the 3950x. That thing clocks like a beast. I know this because my 12700K and 6800XT rig runs PUBG better than the 3950x with a 6900XT Toxic. Like, it's literally 20-30 FPS faster.

It doesn't better much from faster ram because its a single ccd which means that the infinity fabric is not a bottleneck.

Saying that its a modern CPU, pairing it with anything less than 3600MHz ram is doing it a disservice.

Nice to see AM4 still in the game, but I think next pc will be an mini pc although tempted on the 8700g but those mini itx AM5 boards are pricey.
I got Mini pc 5700G - well built and excellent. You won't regret it. The 8700G will be lots better GPU than 5700G and also the performance will be massive huge boost.

Well like a plonker I decided to do it today.

Changed out the CPU and RAM, started the PC and got a message about TPM. Told it yes.

Booted to Windows logon. Said my PIN was no longer valid so I need to do a new one. Not a biggy, I log into my M$ account. It then demands to send a text to a number I no longer have. I tell it I don't have that, it then gives me a message that basically says "Well screw you then you're not getting in !!!".

Grab phone, go to change number on my account and.... "This takes 30 days".

Oh FFS.

So I reinstall Windows 11. Get in, realise BIOS does not fully support CPU. Upgrade BIOS aaaaaand..... Repeat all of the above.

Mang had I know it was going to be this much of a pain I wouldn't have bothered ffs.

off line account for the win... i have a pin and a password and i use windows hello to protect my passwords(lolz as if that works)
and i didnt need to log into an account. when windows is free like android then ill let them link my accounts..

BUT Come on then how is it compared to what you upgraded from.

Changed out the CPU and RAM, started the PC and got a message about TPM. Told it yes.
just to be safe ill remove my password first

It's to do with security. My keys are all tied to my MS account, which I have had since the late 90s. I understand why they do it, but 30 days? what do they expect you to do ffs? just go without your PC.

Daft. Any way, apart from an issue with PUBG it is all done now.

i had the same thing when i lost my iphone(drunk), got a new phone when i tried to recovered remember i have in the last few months changed works numbers and my account was tied to that number.
when you change the number it says anything upto 30 days, its random but they wont tell you when.. i made a new account

I have changed it to send an email to my second ms account. I've had that for 18 years now too, so it should be much easier.

I actually forgot how to set DOCP on AMD. Last three builds have all been Intel lol. Got it there in the end though. Hopefully the squad will be on shortly and I can give it a good workout. Runs very cool, not gone above 54c yet. I did notice in the training ground in PUBG that the FPS do seem to be much higher also.

They hope you just buy a new Windows key... that's the strategy these days, inconvinence the customer as much as possible, call it a security measure, but if you buy a new key you get instant access to your OS and all of the private data they saved.

yup.... and you did the right thing, they more you inconvenience the staff they have to pay for them inconveniencing you the more it costs them and the more they hate it, the more people do that the more this cynical idea becomes a very bad one.

Until windows is free I will take ever penny that I pay for.
His key is only about 9 months old but if it was 5 years I would have still made the call and waited. They want use all the have only accounts and let them use are info but they also want use to pay them for that..
