Amazon Fire TV

Ordered one, annoyed I missed MasterCard offer and free £10 instant video though .. Can they all be rooted/loaded with Xbmc? :)

Cool ive been using plex for ages tbh so will probably get confused with Xbmc looking forward to it though :)

Got it all set up with xbmc now etc, loving it :)

.. Another question, :)
Is there an Iphone app so I can use it as a keyboard for xbmc / fire tv? I have one that enables me to control it and move around but can't find one that lets me type.. really hate typing with the remote :)

I've gotta say, I've not modded mine in any way. Just used a few apps and the video streaming through Amazon Prime and I've loving it.

Streaming to my TV using the Spotify app in conjunction with my iPad is great.

The TWIT.tv app is great far streaming their video podcasts, which I love to watch while doing a bit of ironing each week.

There's definitely some decent potential on the sofa gaming side of things too, unfortunately it seems you do need the controller to get the best out of many of them, but the few I've tried have been good.

There's a fair bit of half decent video content available for free as long as you have prime.

As someone who doesn't have a massive media library to stream through XBMC, it's still a great little box.

Mine arrived today along with a new Xbox 360 wireless controller, 6 year old wanted a console just to play Minecraft on (Not forking out 300+ quid for him to play one game!) so bought a Minecraft PE and a load of other games with some Amazon coins I had doing nothing, works brilliantly.

It's also replaced the NowTV plex box and Raspberry Pi running XBMC which were sitting under the TV so her indoors is happy too. If they ever find a way of running Android from an external HD with full Google Play access I'll be even happier.

Has anyone managed to get an internet browser installed on their AFT? Or can't it be done? Have tried sideloading Chrome and FF but neither show on the AFT.

Ordered one of these today as well. Present for my dad. I did get him a roku streaming stick, was was ment to replace his old roku 1. The streaming stick was just very sluggish, had problems with his router as well so returned it. ATV seemed a bargain at £64, hopefully will be an improvement over what he has.

Well set it up for my dad. Side loaded Kodi and stuck plex on there as well. Have to say I'm well impressed. Really nicely made piece of hardware. Feels very solid, even little things like the plug, really nicely made. Daft I know, but I noticed. Seems to handle everything I have thrown at it and the menu is nice and snappy. Voice search works really well too. My dad is chuffed to bits. Tempted to buy one for my spare room. It's no replacement for my main device, but if they ever bring out a second version, without the current limitations of the android platform I'm sold
