Amazon Fire TV

Hi sorry if this has been asked.

Does the fire stick (not tv) support Netflix superHD 1080p?

Netflix doesn't stream 1080 on my PC as I'm on Windows 7 still (no HTML5 and silver light is 720p only)

I've got a Fire box with Kodi on and the playback of H264 files is smooth and has no problems.
However, MKV files with VC1 stutters; what could be causing this and what can I do to overcome the issue?

Yeah, the Fire stick supports 1080p. :)

Hi, is it worth buying a fire tv if you have a chromecast and raspberry pi? I just became a prime member.

If you want to use the Amazon Prime video stuff you'll pretty much need to, and they are the best devices for watching that. Wait till closer to next Friday though (Black Friday) as they'll probably be £19 for the stick and something cheaper than now for the full fat one.

I've got a Fire TV Stick, I find it's a bit laggy in general, but once playing something it's fine (Netflix, Amazon Prime or Kodi all work).

But personally it's the device I use the least, I've got a standalone HTPC for Kodi, for services that work on both Chromecast and Fire TV Stick I'll pick the Chromecast every time, so the Fire TV Stick only gets used for Amazon Prime stuff and that's it. Still worth it (at £19 at least), but I could easily live without.

Is Kodi back on the Amazon App store yet, or are they being childish about it still?

I should probably upgrade the 13 version I have installed but can't be bothered with side loading.

I've got TVMC working on my Fire TV but I have a noob question. How do I know which of the links to a movie for example will give decent quality streams? I'm getting very mixed results and hoping it's not just down to pot luck. I'm using the Genesis add on BTW.

I don't think under forum rules anyone can answer that for you....any chat of illegal streaming etc isn't allowed.

You might be best to edit that out and review the rules or you'll get a slap on the wrist possibly

my bedroom tv wont power a stick properly using usb, the stick boots up but as soon as you try and use Netflix it crashes. A shame as the tv is wall mounted and at the minute i have to have an unsightly cable trailing to the floor.

you can get 2 into 1 usb cables that come with portable hdds to provide extra power, what type of usb connection does the stick have?

edit : one of these USB 2.0 Cable - Dual Power, 2 x Type A to Mini-B 5 Pin, and a mini to micro adapter should do the job

i had a one of those once before but someone i know kindly lost it for me. Sadly it wouldnt work on this occasion as the tv only has one USB socket. I'll likely end up swapping the single socket behind the tv for a double one.
The stick itself uses micro usb as i recall.

Is a Roku stick a lot slower than a Fire stick?

Can I install apps on the Roku like Kodi or TVMC?
