Amazon Fire TV

Apologies if this is the wrong thread. Been trying to set up TVMC on a Fire stick. Followed the guide on tvaddons and everything has installed ok. But when I get to finalising the installation, I just get "Problem! Installation has failed, please restart TVMC to try again." I've tried reinstalling again and it just comes up with that each time. Any ideas?
 
One little problem I had yesterday, I took one of my Fire Sticks to my Mum's so we could watch a film together (Marvellous). I plugged it in and it wants to be connected to WiFi which I couldn't do for some reason so I couldn't get to Kodi. After 10 minutes of swearing I ended up going down to settings and running Kodi from the Applications.
Just a tip if any of you decide to sideload it with stuff to take away with you.
 
Is there a way to force it to only stream in HD? My internet varies dramatically and goes from 2Mb to 150Mb in the space of a few mins, so Fire keeps putting me at standard definition. It doesn't seem to download anything in advance, or continue downloading when I pause?

Any ideas? :(
 
Just got a FireTV 4k at the w/e, at £55 from Prime Now it was hard to refuse. I knew it could side load Kodi but i've always previously used NUC's or ION based builds with the odd Pi/Pi2 chucked in as required. For the money i'm amazed at how well it performs, i'd expected it to be around Pi2 speeds for general stuff, but it's seriously smooth. I'm a convert :D

I want to get the new Fire TV myself, but on Prime Now (also in Newcastle), it states it's the old version and still at £79.99. How did you find the new one on Prime Now?

It's listed at £64.99 for me now using an NE5 postcode, but it wasn't on Sunday. I'm in NE38 (Washington) normally which I know is run from Gateshead, i'm not sure about over the water's warehouse location - I only know it wasn't showing as available on Sunday when I checked for a friend. 10PRIMENOW should still work (freely available code from Amazon site) on your first prime now purchase if you take out a prime trial or have prime.

My 4K smart TV has netflix and prime apps on it. Is there any benefit to getting the 4K TV box over them?

I found it. It showed up today. It wouldn't accept the code for me and I have prime. I entered 10PRIMENOW and NEWCASTLE and on both it said they were invalid as it wasn't my first purchase. Which is true cos I bought a couple of items over the weekend. Wish I knew about that then! Lol. But still can't complain for £65. :) I too am based in Gateshead.
 
Stick arrived today, seen a few youtube vids on side loading Kodi once it's installed in the TV and on the wifi. Looks fairly simple to do..

Any recommendations do's and don'ts :)

Get the IP of your stick.
Download ADBFire and run
Go into SETTINGS and put your IP in.
CONNECT.
Download TVMC (this is Kodi with extras)
Click on the button that says INSTALL APK
Choose TVMC
Wait until it is installed.
Go and try it out of your Fire Stick SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS

Then
Click on the button that says FIRESTARTER
Wait until it's installed
Go to Fire Stick and open it up from SETTINGS > APPLICATIONS

Set it up so a double home click starts TVMC.

I've got all my four devices opening TVMC on a double click and opening Firestarter on a single click.
A single click will show all your APPS you've loaded and you can also get to the Home screen if you want.
