Amazon Issue - Item says delivered, but not delivered and refusing to refund or re-attempt delivery.

Totally agreed, they cannot provide any evidence of a true delivery attempt. I suggested to them all deliveries that do not fit in a post box or over a certain value need to be signed for and if left at the door to take a photo just like in Covid times.

They are far to reliant on their automated GPS systems and drivers been honest it seems, as I suspect as it was supposedly delivered past 9pm on a Sunday the driver has either just chucked it in one of the farmers fields near our address and checked the box for delivered on his system or simply stolen it. Needless to say I do not have it and neither do my neighbours.

Yep they will no doubt ban my account, once I've watched Picard if they don't ban my account I shall terminate my PRIME membership anyway.
Do they know WHO they are talking to!!! :D

Always do live chat with Amazon on this sort of stuff. they will sort it over live chat. you also have proof of no dleivery because there is timestamped video showing at the time of supposed delivery, no delivery took place.

I started on live chat, I then rang them, emailing Jeff was last resort!

Actually in my experience even for cheap stuff they do this!

Anything expensive often they ask for a code to confirm it, which is fine.

For cheaper stuff, if I'm not home or miss the door, they leave in my side garage and snap a pic.

I can confirm though AMEX are amazing, and well worth being a customer just for how good their support has been when I've needed it.

Maybe the whole signing for items is area specific, the only item they ever ask for any form of receipt of delivery is alcohol where they won't hand over until DOB is given.
All other items they put in the post box or ring the doorbell, but rarely ask to be signed for.

Having never disputed or returned an item before I did not expect the poor treatment especially having ordered so much stuff over years.

That sucks. I built a new PC back in Mar 2020 just before the Pandemic, and ordered a few parts from Amazon. Day of delivery, they said they delivered it to some random house that didn't even exist on my street. I was pretty distraught and resorted to knocking on a few random doors asking before I gave up. Went through support (the live chat thing), and surprisingly they pretty much instantly gave me a full refund without much questioning on all the parts, and I just re-ordered them (and the items actually came this time).

What might be a more serious issue is if they try to recover it as debt, so I would also keep an eye on your credit history for the forseeable future to see if anything pops up on there.

Same, when i've complained that drivers have just chucked stuff on the doorstep instead of using my safe place, they've tried to refund me even though i've recieved the goods.

I've never had to sign for a single thing from Amazon and after reading this and the news being involved with products being replaced with cat\dog food I will not be using them for anything of value.

I will continue to do so until I get a Gibbo situation, if they pull the same on me I will just do the same charge back process and then probably be locked out of Amazon forever.

I've had a few wobbles with Amazon but usually when I contact CS they either just resend the item or refund.

The most memorable one was I'd ordered a DSLR, so not a cheap item but not mega expensive either. The box that should have had the camera in showed up (left on doorstep) when opened it contained a shower head. Contacted CS via live chat and they said they'd investigate and contact me, next day received an email saying refund had been issued.

The last couple of times i've ordered something expensive they actually texted me a code and I had to give that to the driver to get them to hand over the item, so didn't have to sign for it but had to relay the code to them.

Only problem I’ve ever had was they sent me the wrong CPU cooling fan, they wanted me to use a QR code to sort out return delivery which I couldn’t do. After speaking to them on online chat they sent me a prepaid return label instead.

When I told them it was in the post they instantly refunded me. I ordered a different CPU cooling fan instead and that arrived no problem.

It's completely random here. Sometimes I have to stand there holding a package while the driver takes a picture, other times they'll lob it at the door and run. Doesn't seem to matter how much it cost.
Glad we've got a Ring doorbell, I once watched as the driver chucked our parcel through next doors open window!

The delivery drivers should have to input a 4 digit code that you set and that they cannot see if they want to say the delivery has been completed successfully. If they can't deliver then at least they can't just pretend they have. And if you forget, you should be able to accept the delivery through the app/wesbsite. Although I'm sure I've overlooked some obvious flaw in this, probably that if someone really wanted to, they would deliver something random to you and take the valuable thing?

The obvious flaw being that often people aren't in. There needs to be some form of checks for expensive items, apart from a photoof a random doorway but maybe there is and some just don't bother.

@Gibbo this is **** poor treatment and beyond a joke. It's annoying to hear as I've always found them to be ok at dealing with stuff, once you get to talk to someone anyway. Amex are indeed fantastic. I had to resort to chargeback to resolve an issue getting a refund for a returned errr, let's call it an eyeball stimulator and novelty emergency hand warmer, from a 3rd party who we shan't name and after weeks tearing my hair out with the company Amex solved it (at my end at least) in 24 hours.

That article, reading between the lines, seems to be 3rd party sellers via amazon. There was one person moaning about a £400 GPU from the US. Surprise surprise, sounded too good to be true and it was. Who'd have thunk it?

The other problem with this is it doesn't prove the package is what they say it is, sure you gave them a code, but they still could have replaced it with something weighty!
