Amazon Locker. Glad I'm not short

Or not:

The ONS said the average man in England was 5ft 9in (175.3cm) tall and weighed 13.16 stone (83.6kg). The average woman in England weighed 11 stone (70.2kg) and was 5ft 3in tall (161.6cm).13 Oct 2010
she's still short, she's a woman ;) 5'8 is short

That must rank as the most useless text I've read in a while!

No metric measurements at all is very strange in 2021 but I guess Amazon are American...

And then the give the imperial measurements in ... Inches!

Okay, 48" is 4' (aka 1.2m for the rest of the world) and 15" is 1'3" (0.375m) but of the top of your head, how many people would know their height in inches as opposed to feet and inches?

I ordered one but it was delivered to the top locker and I couldn't reach it.

5'8" seems to get quoted as average male height quite a lot, but it always strikes me as an inch or two shorter than I would expect the average to be.
I am 5"8. It was average when I was born in the 60's but nowadays it's just below average. The average has grown to 5"9 as the population is taller now.

wouldn’t know without adding it up but know/can imagine how much 48 and 15 inches is straight away, inches is still used for loads of stuff! Screen sizes/pizzas etc :p

Well, that is on the American (.com) not the UK (.co.uk) site......................

How would Warwick Davis use one of these?

I'm fairly confident that some of the people who order items from Amazon are not men.

Also, 5'8" is ~2% shorter than average for men in the UK. Even if you consider only men, 2% under average height is not short.

I know that on OcUK all the men are 6ft+, handsome, wealthy and charming(*). But I'm talking about the UK as a whole.

* when not pooing through letterboxes.

30% of men under 25 are now over 6ft tall.

I am 6ft3 and according to google I am in the 97.6 percentile for men in the UK but tbh I have never felt tall but I guess that is normal unless you see yourself in the third person all the time. My son is in a similar percentile and will more than likely be taller than me. He is only 2 years old but looks like a 3 year old.

Good point, I just sae the /gb/ in the URL.
However, the UK site has the same weird measurements:

You can request that your parcels get delivered into a lower locker slot (between 15” and 48” from the ground) during checkout.
Had a lock around their German site but found no mention of height.

Not being able to convert to metric might be one of those Amazon things like not having a functional filter system (no or, not, double quotes etc.) possibly in the hope they buy some random tat. Mostly when pointing these things out, the response is they are a quadrillion dollar company and must know what they're doing. The appeal to authority money.

Outrageous heightism from Amazon, they need to design these lockers with short people in mind. I'm so offended that I have to choose lower locker during checkout just be able to get my parcel when tall people don't.

It's blue as well, that's a masculine colour. What about women and LGBTUITYGTYUIGWTF1111++? there need to pink and rainbow coloured ones. Absolutely disgraceful lack of thought here.

I can picture them all with measuring tape going oh my god he's 5ft 8 against a person that's 5ft 9. Thicker hair can make a difference.
