Amazon Logistics

The Collect+ and lockers stuff are good features but not ones I have that much need for other than occasionally when returning items.

Had one the other day from AL. Card said was in safe place. No safe place registered but most couriers use the recycling bin which is fine with me.

Checked online and it was showing as gone back to depot. So I had no idea where it was. But what was the most frustrating is that I was in when I was carded

Cancelled my prime membership partly because of this.

If you have a look on the forums, tbf the working conditions for the drivers are terrible. Lack of training, zero hour related BS, 13 hour days in some cases, total lack of organisation when preparing the pallets/packages for delivery routes, etcetc. Don't expect it to change anytime soon!.

If you've got a good driver, you're lucky. But he/she wont last long. I was lucky for a while, and the guy eventually told me he was hanging up his boots on account of the terrible working conditions impacting his family etc. Felt sorry for him!. I think my route's had 3 drivers since. Possibly more during periods where I've not had orders..

I am surprised it isn't rife with parcels going missing all over the country, what is to stop some enterprising local tea leaf from following the delivery driver but keeping a few doors back etc, the likes of yodel\herps delivery drivers tend to work one patch in one area, typically street to street, all parcels left on show could easily be taken by the tea leaf.

If it isn't happening yet i suspect it wont be long.

cctv, no idea what's in parcel. a lot of it is extremely low value.

that is an extremely high risk activity for what would be minimal returns. even expensive stuff brand new can be worth sod all stolen. it's only certain items that are both easy to shift and keep a good price on black market.

Generally they just do seasonal temp work at the DCs etc. instead where they can see what they are stealing - hence why places like Amazon often have over the top staff search, etc. policies.

I understand all that but it is free stuff to a thief, whatever it is sold for it is still more than what the thief had before.

still have no issue with them at all and same depot then.
also set a safe place on amazon, we don't use green wheelie bin (garden waste) so that's my safe place.

How did you do that? The only options I can remember being given are neighbour and I think shed, there was no wheelie bin option, which would be handy as as I have had many a Tassimo order go awol.

I thought Amazon Logistics was only used for lower valued items.

I miss DPD though.

Everything I've bought lately has been delivered by AL though individually the most expensive item since they dropped DPD was £90 - had a few items at around £60 this week (deliveries Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and supposedly two today though only one turned up).

Pretty sure one has gone missing as they are showing one delivered and the other one as attempt failed due to no one in at the exact same time!

I have 9 items on order from them at the moment, 8 of those are "fulfilled by Amazon". Only 2 of the 8 are coming via AL the rest via Yodel and Interlink. So much for grouping them together, every single item has been dispatched separately.

So I found out today why its been so bad - they launched a new software system without proper testing and its causing all kinds of issues with deliveries to some areas - mine being one of them :S

I've bought quite a bit from Amazon recently and everything has been delivered via Amazon Logisitics. I do miss the tracking options from DPD (plus I was was on first name terms with the drivers) but now that the AL drivers have found their feet they know where to leave parcels if I'm not in. They're not bad up my way. I've a lot of sympathy for them given the crap wage they're likely to be earning.

You may well have just chosen items that happen to be in separate warehouses, not much they can do about that.

I've still never had an issue with AL and I order a fair amount using Prime next day and same day delivery.

Largely I don't have a problem with the drivers - 1-2 aside most of them are trying their best - but the overall system, especially the lack of a timeslot like DPD has been pretty poor with a lot of stuff sliding several days late and you aren't sure if its going to turn up when or not :S and some stuff just seems to do silly things like apparently being loaded into different vans 3 times in the same day and never turning up at all for days on end.

I do order a fair bit of stuff so its not like I'm judging this off 2-3 deliveries heh.

We are lucky, we have a nice delivery guy in our area. Never had any problems with him. If we need to return something we just leave it outside the door for him and he collects it. He also delivers late at night rather than just taking it back to the depot.

same round my parts. I spoke to our guy once and said that normally I am not home untill gone 8pm due to work and he said no problem I will come to you last and he delivers as late as 10pm which suits me fine. I live in a small villagey type place and we always have the same geeser from amazon doing the drop offs

Precisely, it's a next day delivery for bottom prices, I opt for free credit no rush delivery option most of the time anyway. Last guy seemed a little grumpy but then again I do live on a 12th floor flat with a private car park so more of a pain than a regular house!
