Amazon making some items prime only purchases

In all fairness Aberlour is in the middle of nowhere.

Crap. We have one of the three main North South routes going through the village (A95). Next day is next day and anything less than promised is not acceptable.

Complain each time and often or not they give you credit or extend your prime access.

They just basically told me tough luck it's not their problem even though they were slow to despatch most of them.

Do you still have to make £20 worth of qualifying purchases to get free delivery with Prime?

Still? You never have had to do that as a general rule simply to get free delivery.

There are some items on amazon that can only be purchased if your total order comes to £20, for most items though this doesn't apply. No reason why you can't order some regular item worth say £5 and have it delivered next day via prime.

On my account I clicked the "Try Prime" button next to "Your Account", which then takes you to a page, with a table listing the 3 options "Prime Video", "Prime (Monthly)" and "Prime (Annually)"

Nope, I only had access to Prime (annual) and Prime video monthly. No other options at all.

+1 :D

Was a Non-Believer and that it was not worth it. Since i started the trial i have been ordering loads more and enjoy the streaming/download content on phone for long journeys. Seem's like a No brainer when i can also share this with a family member too ;)

I am a student and have access to the 6 month free trial and £39 following. I honestly doubt I would save £39 in postage in a year from Amazon at the best of times let alone £80. I have Netflix that my wife uses and I never use so I have no need for the video services. I also sub spotify which I share with her (at half price student discount) so I've no need for the music. I just can't see the fuss about prime and tbh feel that this is a disgrace as I don't want to sign up (until the new clarkson show) just to buy certain items. Ridiculous.

You don't have to. You can either buy it elsewhere, or you can buy it from one of the Amazon Marketplace sellers where it's actually cheaper even if you include postage. There's no real reason to get all up-in-arms about this.

I wouldn't say I'm up in arms about it really but I do think it's an unfair move from Amazon, essentially forcing people to buy their subscription extra service to buy certain items. I appreciate, and often do, buy things cheaper elsewhere and on the marketplace but there have been a few times I've bought things from Amazon and not another seller deliberately. The whole idea of loads of subscription services has never really sat right with me - and I clearly use my fair share haha.

They aren't forcing you to, as Amazon isn't the only place you can buy the Blu-Ray. Of course, if they were then I'd probably feel similarly to you.

I don't understand the appeal of getting everything next day. Most of what Amazon sell could be classed as tat but OMG NEXT DAY TAT :p

For my purchasing habits, and not leaving important stuff until the day before, it isn't worth it. The fact other services are thrown in probably shows that amazon themselves acknowledge that people wouldn't pay for them separately, too

That's like saying most of what every shop sells is tat, Amazon sell almost anything you could ever really want to buy.

We bought a rug with Prime. It was shipped next day from across the country (I'm in the USA). I looked up what it would have cost for me for the same service from the courier - $360. I've also had a chair shipped from Canada for free with prime too. It's more than paid for itself now.

Not sure how different it is here in the US other than it being free 2 day shipping (or 2 days for your order to arrive. They overnight things if they spend a day messing around with your order.)

LOL,Amazon basically shooting themselves in the foot then,People will just go elsewhere.

Not everyone buys stuff all the time that makes prime worth having,Silly move on them imo.

It's an utter ******* disgrace and I hope it loses them a shed load of sales and they are forced to back down.

Thankfully I haven't bought anything from the disgrace of a company for quite a while as there are plenty of better alternatives if you shop for specifics.

Amazon has just become as broken and corrupt as eBay and I just get the sense it's bubble is about to burst.

This. I'll just shop elsewhere for the item I want. They're not going to hold me to ransom in order to pay for 'prime membership'
