Amazon making some items prime only purchases

It's all very well people saying prime is great but it doesn't work most of the time here. If I remember right out of 5 orders I placed while on the prime trial only one arrived next day. Most still took 3-4 days to arrive and one took over a week. All items were in stock and qualified for prime next day delivery.

Complain each time and often or not they give you credit or extend your prime access.

You can pay monthly.

You sign up with the full-year fee, then switch to monthly payments. They refund the year fee, and start taking the monthly amounts. You pay £7.99/month, so £16 more than the annual fee.

Don't even need to do that now - just checked and you can start your membership on a monthly plan @ £7.99/month.

Few posts above; its £7.99/month.

:)

If I could get Prime for a monthly fee I'd be all over it, but £80 upfront is hard to swallow.

I will now be using this, as normally I make a few months of the year where I buy a lot of things (e.g. run up to Christmas etc), but not much at other times. 2 next day orders within the same month, and it has paid for itself.

Got Prime for £39 the other day. Not used it much yet but it does seem to be well worth it! Not sure if I would pay £80 for it however.

In 3 years of using it every single prime parcel has arrived next day for me.

Suppose it depends on your local delivery person, but prime and prime now have been nothing but fantastic for me.

In like 3-4 years, only had like 2 things not turn up. One was resent the same day, the other I was refunded for, well worth the money just for delivery. Video, Music, Storage is just an added bonus.

Am I being stupid? I can't find the link to start the membership on the monthly plan at the moment.

On my account I clicked the "Try Prime" button next to "Your Account", which then takes you to a page, with a table listing the 3 options "Prime Video", "Prime (Monthly)" and "Prime (Annually)"

I don't tend to use amazon much these days unless I'm ordering a large item with free postage anyway, I usually stick with ebay for the odds and ends I would have bought from them.

Brilliant value for money when you consider all the video and music content you get, plus the delivery ect. I guess it they can afford to do it on a sell it low stack em high strategy.
