Amazon Prime - Dont have it then you can wait.

I have had Prime for a few years and used Amazon since 2000. Overall I'm impressed with Prime and also the Prime Now, for deliveries in around 1.5hrs. I do wish that they would combine the Prime Now and my usual Prime orders under the same account, that way I can easily print off invoices and look at my order history.
It would be good if they used DPD to delivery the very high valued items which must be signed for, rather than Amazon Logisitics. At least with DPD I get pretty amazing tracking delivery information with a delivery slot meaning I'm not in all day waiting.

At least Amazon do not debit my account until the item is being sent meaning that pre-orders or stuff out of stock can be ordered without your money leaving your account the moment you press the order button, unlike some companies...
 
Are Amazon up to some new game 'global store'
will these come under Prime, or are they just re-classifying goods as global, to justify postage charge ?

The "global store" is from what I understand items that are sold by other Amazon group stores (fr, de, com etc) but will ship to your location, and is basically a way of ordering from the other stores without having to go to them specifically and automatically allowing for any customs charges (so no unexpected bills).
So the shipping charge there is probably the standard international shipping charge from Amazon.com.
 
Hmm. I'm cutting out impulse spending so cancelled Amazon prime seeing as I watched what I wanted on streaming and don't use it anymore.

Had to make a few (separate) orders for things I needed and they're still not with me after a week! I'm not that bothered as I don't need them urgently but there's a real segregation of non-prime now. It never used to make much difference, maybe a day.
 
They have a data model that predicts revenue from a customer based on purchase history, so,
in addition to considering optimisation of logistics to deliver it, for both pime (not guaranteed next day) and non-prime members they consider whether pleasing you will bring further purchases and increase/decrease your priority accordingly ?

I woould like to know how much browsing history and basket contents impacts the cost of items, if many people review (so not yet purchased) a product do the prices creep up.

Any links to the psychological techniques they might use ?
 
I've spent far too much money on Amazon over the years. Given recent experience I'm not sure they're that bothered about keeping me happy. :D
 
They also use shady business practice, treat the staff like cattle, do not pay the tax as they should and the owner is a nasty bit of work.

I do not mind paying a extra couple of quid to avoid all of the above.
 
I've never used prime and since the minimum spend for free delivery has gone up to 20 quid, I hardly use them any more. As I get older my music taste are getting more mainstream so buying locally isn't a problem and they aren't particularly competitive on blu-rays I want to buy. I don't buy much else. :p
 
I saw the 7 series cartridge that I needed, and as it's Prime I wondered whether I would receive it tomorrow if I order now. So I clicked on the item to find out...

Yes, pay the Prime premium and you too can have it in 3 weeks. :rolleyes:
 
imhop articles with 1-3weeks delay often ship quicker than expected - I think they are pessimistic estimates, isn't that the first level of out-of-stock msg too. ?
for consumables, prices often seem to be at minimum too, when item has a wait, and seem to increase before stock runs out - psychologically people will pay more if they think they will miss out ?

And Birmingham, I ordered it at lunch time and it arrived at 3pm, including a big box of Technics….que funny looks at work.
