Amazon Prime - Dont have it then you can wait.

It is an item that qualifies for Prime, when it is in stock. Isn't it obvious?

It doesn't solely mean you can get it tomorrow.
No, it isn't obvious. If I pay a subscription for next day delivery, then I expect an item with that logo to be available... Next day. Not in three weeks. If it isn't available next day, it shouldn't have that logo as it's totally misleading.

There are loads of other items that won't be available next day, they are in stock, and they have that logo. It's a con.

You'll note Prime is referred to as 'one day' not 'next day', to try and help get across the message its not service that means everything is available for delivery the day after ordering.

All it does is indicate items where you are getting the improved delivery that regular users would have to pay £whatever for. That still applies to items that arent going to be in stock for 3 weeks, you could still pay for a one-day delivery service as a normal user, with Prime you get it anyway.

  • Not all delivery speeds are available for all items or all addresses. Learn more about Amazon Prime Eligible Items & Addresses.
  • One-Day, Two-Day, Express and Same-Day (Evening Delivery) are terms we use to determine your delivery date (these terms don't reflect item availability). See the One-Day, Priority, Express and Evening Terms & Conditions.
  • *One Day Delivery is 1 business day after dispatch, including Saturdays, but not including Public Holidays.
  • If you place your order with One-Day Delivery, depending on the time of day that you place your order and your delivery address, if in stock it'll be dispatched that same day and delivered the next day. For more information on One-Day Delivery, go to About One-Day Delivery in the UK.
  • Items not available for immediate dispatch aren't eligible for One-Day Delivery. For these purchases, you'll be offered Two-Day Delivery or Expedited Delivery during checkout, at no extra cost. Two-Day and Expedited Delivery use fast delivery methods to ensure that items arrive quickly after they become available for dispatch.
  • Amazon Prime members will receive Standard Delivery at no extra cost for Amazon Prime eligible items which aren't available for One-Day Delivery.
  • We may dispatch products by ground or air; our delivery speeds don't correspond to any carrier-branded delivery services. Delivery may require a signature.
  • Selected delivery options usually apply across business days, which include Saturdays, unless otherwise specified.
  • For items not available for immediate dispatch, the delivery time starts when the item is dispatched. As an example, it'll take two business days after an item is dispatched for it to reach you with Two-Day Delivery.
  • Check the ordering cut-off time shown on the detail page to ensure your order is placed in time to qualify for the estimated delivery date referenced.
  • So that you're seeing eligible Amazon Prime Delivery Benefits when shopping, make sure you've set a default address for your account. To learn how to set or change your default address see Change Your 1-Click Settings.
  • In some cases, choosing a higher quantity for an item may make it ineligible for Same-Day Delivery, because multiple units may not be available locally. In this case, the option to choose Same-Day Delivery will disappear, and normal Amazon Prime delivery options will display.

I've just asked the wife how she's finding Prime and she says she ordered an item on Friday for Saturday delivery and it's still not arrived. It happens a significant percentage of the time with us. We've paid for the expedited delivery, they've taken the money and committed to providing the service, and they simply don't provide it.

If Sky decided to provide the sports channels as and when they felt like it, people wouldn't stand for it. I'm not sure why Amazon get away with this. Probably because people like me put up with it, I suppose.

Just email them, you get a whole month free for that….which I secretly prefer!

I'm yet to have any issues with deliveries failing to arrive when they're meant to, if they're failing to deliver the service, complain.

If it's just because you're getting confused and thought that everything with a Prime logo would arrive the day after you ordered it, that's not really their problem and it's by no mean a 'con'. Failed deliveries weren't what you originally posted about though.

I ordered something recommended from HotUKDeals last week as it was basically priced wrong. Amazon cancelled the order but gave me £5, which I thought was fair enough.

Ordered Mario Odyssey Friday, in stock, said it would arrive Saturday with prime, still don't have it, told I have to wait until tomorrow (8th) to contact them about my order.

They've evidently lost the parcel or its been swiped as it's been "on its way to me" since Saturday morning.

To be fair I'll have a moan at Amazon support tomorrow when it's still not here and get something for nothing for the inconvenience. I can't argue with their logic of throwing free stuff at customers when things go wrong.

Best thing about Prime is the ability to pick a day for delivery, so I can order something today and ask for it to be delivered on Saturday or Sunday when I know I can be at home.

Of the 300 odd orders I have placed under Prime I have only not had it delivered on time about 4 or 5 times (each with a free month added).

Sounds like it would help a lot if they had a separate logo for prime as to next day. This seems to be main beef in this thread gf has prime, I don't. If I had it it would just make me lazier

It tells you the ETA for delivery anyway, I don't see the problem or why you need to break it down any further.

I mean it tells you when you can get it, so people should just stop assuming everything you order means next day, because that assumption is wrong to begin with.

You know she can share her Prime delivery perks with you? If you setup Amazon Family I think its called, as I have a Prime account and added my woman to it and she gets my Prime delivery options on her Amazon account.

Enjoy being more lazy :)

I've seen a few items lately with the Prime logo and have gone to order them only to be greeted with a it will actually turn up in x amount of days so i've cancelled and got a different item. However i've never had something that has said it will come next day and then not. It would probably make it easier if this stuff were just marked out of stock or had a different icon. Then at least you know before the checkout phase. Still, for the amount of stuff i order Prime is a bargain. :)

Prime is amazing in my area, ordered a shed load of items over the last 18 months or so, not a single one was later than the date advertised......I'm absolutely livid! I come in here and all I see is "1 month free this, 1 month free that", but as my delivery guy is clearly an alien I have to forego freebies and instead settle for absolutely fantastic service. Who do I complain to?

I have had 2 deliveries missed their delivery day, extended my Prime by 2 extra months :) I am happy with that! Happens about 1 in 20 orders usually

Looks like Amazon are (slowly) updating their tracking - as of today for their own deliveries I've now got a map with rough location of the driver, how many deliveries to go before mine, etc. but doesn't give a rough delivery window unfortunately.

Not sure if it is due to the way stuff is loaded on the van, etc. but routing seems a bit unproductive - did a drop near me and then had to go around the houses and back again past me twice to then go out the other side of town to do several more drops before coming back this side.
