Amazon Prime - Dont have it then you can wait.

Never had any issues with Amazon deliveries pre or post prime. Its great to have an Amazon locker in my workplace, so handy :)

Was supposed to have a next day delivery yesterday. On my video doorbell, I think I see the guy going to the flats upstairs with the package, coming down without. I went and knocked for them, but the two people that answered said they didn't have.

Customer Service assured me not to worry, they would give it one more day then either send out again, or refund. We'll see what happens tomorrow I guess.

You should be fine. I once ordered a jacket from Amazon and stupidly got my new postcode wrong. It was signed for at a solicitors who denied they had it when I went there. But Amazon still refunded me despite it being my own mistake. So you should be fine.

My brother just came home and found it left outside, leaning on the door. They'd opened it and I guess then realised it wasn't theirs. The guy going upstairs yesterday clearly wasn't with my delivery as this guy came from outside... All's good again :)

I've recently ordered a couple of things on Amazon and paid for next day delivery. On both occasions the items were delivered after 8pm. I'm a non Prime customer.

As a non prime customer, I ordered something for the first time in months on Tuesday. It didn't get despatched until Thursday evening which seems standard.... but looking at the tracking just now, it's in bloody Germany. There was nothing on the product page to suggest it was coming from overseas and it's still available next day for Prime customers. WTF?? :p

It probably isn't available next day to Prime customers... That's the con to get you to buy Prime.

Nope seen a couple of these recently as a Prime customer - shows next day until you order then shows up as ETA 2-3 days and ships from Germany after confirming order - a bit bad.

That's what I suspected. I've discussed in this thread previously, but been told "read the small print".

Yes, because you seemed to think that Prime means everything next day but that isn't what Prime is.

I'm yet to find anything that isn't crystal clear when it will be shipping and arriving prior to order.

Given it's seemingly so common, I'd be interested to see a link to something people are having difficulty with.

I've had a few recently as a Prime item and a Prime customer that have said "Want it delivered by <next day>? Order within nn hrs nn mins and choose Express Delivery at checkout." with the only delivery options showing the following day or slower delivery options and then after clicking confirm the order states arriving by a date 3 days later and ships from Germany.

Largely it has been a minority but it is somewhat concerning as usually Prime is a next day delivery when marked as such.

Occasionally I've seen it show prime next day for an item, but only in that one "colour". Like if you select a different colour of the same item, it's no longer prime. It caught me out once til I figured out why.

Perhaps people are being caught by that if they change the item sightly like colour, memory size etc

Here's a Prime example (;))

Bear in mind, this is first thing Saturday morning and as you can see it's a wee bit of a lottery as to when you'll receive any of these items.

Now, most people think Prime is one-day delivery, because well.... Amazon call it that:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Braun-Electric-Station-Rechargeable-Stubble/dp/B01IN8LBOY/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1511602558&sr=8-6&keywords=braun+series+7+replacement+foil+&+cutter

Order within 20 hrs 49 mins and choose One-Day Delivery at checkout

However, some of these items will be as late as Thursday... and they've changed that description from one-day delivery to priority delivery. Note also, that the little Prime logo has disappeared now that we're actually on the product page.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Braun-Replacement-Shaver-compatible-Razors/dp/B00GS5K29K/ref=sr_1_8_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1511602558&sr=8-8&keywords=braun+series+7+replacement+foil+&+cutter

Choose Priority Delivery at checkout.

Basically, they just redefine the service to suit themselves and call it all "Prime". Here's the original search term: https://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_s...r&sprefix=braun+se,aps,164&crid=2YUF0ZE6YEH7Y

The example above is from a single page from a single search term.

TBH I'm not too bothered about that aspect - being around Black Friday the demand makes it unlikely they can cope and it is clearly marked when you will get it even if they've expanded the window.

The ones that are starting to bother me are where it blatantly says next day but then ships from Europe and is 2-3 days later but only tells you after you've clicked confirm.

What bothers me is the example above where it has the Prime logo on the list page, but when you click through the logo disappears and it's changed from "one day" to "priority". It's totally misleading.

I order a few hundred times a year from Amazon, I don't recall it ever changing delivery time frame once I click confirm? Odd.

Well String's example is exactly what i suspected - he thinks he's bought an 'everything arrives the next day' service but that isn't what it is.

All the prime logo examples are providing a delivery service you would normally pay £5.99 or whatever for, for free. Which is what prime is - paying yearly for improved delivery option rather than per item.

As for Rroff's experience of something changing AFTER clicking confirm - never experienced that.

Delivery times do change based on delivery location though - if I want something delivered to my local Amazon Locker, 'next day' is available for longer than to my home address. So if you change away from your default, that can change the estimated delivery date which people might not realise it's doing.

The other day I was having something delivered, I could see a map with a dot of the van on it, and it arrive at my house in real time, looked out the window, there the guy was, awesome :D

I think you need to read my post with the images again.

To recap: They use the Prime logo as a hook to make you think you're getting one-day delivery but there are examples (as above) where the Prime logo actually disappears from the item as you progress through to the product page. Also, their definition of "one-day" delivery is laughable as it's one day after dispatch not one-day after order, so they can dispatch it when they like and technically still have delivered the service. Again, misleading.

No, I don't need to read it again. You don't understand what you've purchased. Even where the logo disappears, you're still getting the paid for priority delivery, for 'free', exactly as per the terms of what you bought. They even have little pop-up overlays to try and make this even clearer.

To reiterate - prime does not mean 'everything with this logo is next day' or even 'everything with this logo is one day from dispatch'.

None of this is misleading if you understand what the service is and what you've paid for.
