Amazon Prime - Dont have it then you can wait.

To reiterate - prime does not mean 'everything with this logo is next day' or even 'everything with this logo is one day from dispatch'.

None of this is misleading if you understand what the service is and what you've paid for.

So what does Prime mean, sum it up in a sentence.

It means that you get the paid upgraded delivery options for free.

This can be one day, two day, standard, expedited etc.

The only exception is 'express' which requires a top up but is still much cheaper than on offer to non prime customers.

Pretty sure prime doesn't offer anything you can't get as a regular customer if you'd rather just pay £8.99 each time you want it quicker than normal.

First for today where Amazon actually screw something up after having no problems with them for nearly a decade

Ordered a bunch of stuff yesterday, got my emails saying it would be delivered Monday

Go out this morning without my phone for a bike ride and come back to find DPD has arrived 2 days early with my stuff and will have to redeliver tomorrow and now I have to spend the rest of the day waiting for the other half of what I ordered because Amazon in all their logic can't put multiple orders from the same time and roughly same time together so I've got 3 items being sent by DPD and another 3 being sent by Amazon courier.

The DPD service isn't bad at least they bother to give you an hour time slot of when you need to be in, which I would have been had Amazon told me yesterday they would be shipping today instead of telling me this morning when I'm nowhere near my phone or computer to check emails/texts

I mean it's not a terrible experience, I expected Monday but I'll have everything by tomorrow so that's a plus but the logistics of it and the poor communication is really below their normal standards

Here are the banner ads for Prime. They don't appear to reflect the week long waits that you consider normal. Look at the bottom ad in particular, it's very clear what they have written:

Look for the Prime logo -> Add the Prime eligible item to your cart -> Get one day delivery on your purchase

Why wouldn't anyone think they were buying a one-day delivery service?

Actually, I'm having a chuckle to myself here as I just remembered I ordered a one-day delivery yesterday.

I ordered it at 09:12am and the one-day delivery is going to arrive 3 days later. :D

The Amazon ad that I have screen capped clearly says:

Look for the Prime logo -> Add the Prime eligible item to your cart -> Get one day delivery on your purchase

Not two day, standard, expedited etc. It clearly says one day. And one day to Amazon is order Friday, get it Monday.

Feel free to link us, I've put in the effort to back up what I say so why can't you?
Because it's a level of effort not worth expending.

Press the learn more buttons and it'll explain it all in the explicit detail you crave, my copy pasting it here for you won't change it.

Also to add my two pence; it's one day delivery not next day delivery. So it's one day delivery after dispatch. You get given the delivery date when you order.

Also prime is much more than just the delivery aspect.

You also get free one day delivery from seller fulfilled prime sellers now too, Amazon have increased the "lead" time for those over Black Friday.

I just clicked on the learn more for the unlimited one day delivery:

And this is the more I learned: https://www.amazon.co.uk/b?ie=UTF8&node=12615376031

So, what's your point?

You're getting different navigation to what I get on my phone, I get directed to this.
Amazon Prime Shipping Benefits
Your Amazon Prime membership includes a variety of delivery benefits, including several delivery upgrades if you need to expedite your delivery.

here.

Amazon Prime Eligible Items & Addresses.
  • *One Day Delivery is 1 business day after dispatch, including Saturdays, but not including Public Holidays.
  • If you place your order with One-Day Delivery, depending on the time of day that you place your order and your delivery address, if in stock it'll be dispatched that same day and delivered the next day. For more information on One-Day Delivery, go to About One-Day Delivery in the UK.
  • Items not available for immediate dispatch aren't eligible for One-Day Delivery. For these purchases, you'll be offered Two-Day Delivery or Expedited Delivery during checkout, at no extra cost. Two-Day and Expedited Delivery use fast delivery methods to ensure that items arrive quickly after they become available for dispatch.
  • Amazon Prime members will receive Standard Delivery at no extra cost for Amazon Prime eligible items which aren't available for One-Day Delivery.
  • We may dispatch products by ground or air; our delivery speeds don't correspond to any carrier-branded delivery services. Delivery may require a signature.
  • Selected delivery options usually apply across business days, which include Saturdays, unless otherwise specified.
  • For items not available for immediate dispatch, the delivery time starts when the item is dispatched. As an example, it'll take two business days after an item is dispatched for it to reach you with Two-Day Delivery.
  • Check the ordering cut-off time shown on the detail page to ensure your order is placed in time to qualify for the estimated delivery date referenced.
  • So that you're seeing eligible Amazon Prime Delivery Benefits when shopping, make sure you've set a default address for your account. To learn how to set or change your default address see Change Your 1-Click Settings.
  • In some cases, choosing a higher quantity for an item may make it ineligible for Same-Day Delivery, because multiple units may not be available locally. In this case, the option to choose Same-Day Delivery will disappear, and normal Amazon Prime delivery options will display.

It's not copying the summary table though.

Try logging out and then exploring the benefits of Prime as a potential customer. That's the point I've been making to you.
Like I said, level of effort not worth expending.

I've never struggled to understand what I get, I've never been misled nor had problems with the idea that selecting one day delivery on items that aren't in stock will result in something other than next day delivery.

It's all made remarkably clear if you spend more than 30 seconds trying to understand what you've bought.

If you feel that strongly, take it up with trading standards or the advertising standards agency and see how far you get.

To me one day delivery suggests it would arrive one day after despatch. But then again I think people would also expect that if you order within a certain time-frame, you could have your item(s) dispatched that same day, not a day or two days later.

I'm not a Prime customer anymore and I hardly shop with Amazon anymore also. I did make a recent order though using the free service, got estimated delivery for between 28th-30th. I had an email telling it it was being delivered today.

It used to be called next day buy it changed to one day and is as you describe.

Also you do not need to expect when it will be dispatched as it tells you when it will arrive when you order.
