Amazon prime sale tomorrow - Moderator edit, no competitor discussion please

£19 for a FireTV stick ain't bad. But alas I don't really need one!

If they do a deal on the Dark Knight Trilogy Bluray then I'm interested.

Doesn't seem all that great to me.

The prices of things almost smack of "this is what you'd be paying if we weren't ripping you off the rest of the year."

You could argue that, but aren't Amazon making very little cash in real terms when comparing their revenue figures with profit?

By the by if anyone has prime, you can buy a £50 gift card and get a £10 promo code free Gift Card deal - you must have prime though according to the T & C's.

Yeah but you just wait for it to show up, it ties up £50 for a bit (you should get the £10 promo today via email) but you can spend that on a later purchase.

It's 20% interest on your capital assuming you will spend it at Amazon at some point :D

Just because they stuff all their profits back into their own expenditures and improving their own facilities so they can make a bigger profit in the future?

Making very little cash?

Okay.

Not that I'm opposed to consumerism, just don't be so blind? :p

Not disagreeing they are profitable, and will probably get more so on an exponential scale, but at the same time I think they operate on reasonably small margins, they have always been good for me when I needed to return something, free delivery must cost them a lot.

A lot of stuff they put on sale just goes up before sale, and down again for the sales.

We as consumers just need to be more savvy, using the 3 x camel app is a good start. I am not taking advantage of any of the sales because I don't have prime.

What a bummer, I only purchased a Fire TV box a few days ago and now it's £20 less! I really didn't think that it would come up in the sale, I just thought it'd be clearance stuff :(

Their margins are miniscule, they tell you that themselves, they auite openly tell you how much they lose each year as well.

Same I bought a firetv stick last week for £35 and it's virtually half price. Debating whether to buy another and return it as the one I bought full price!

If you have Prime and could buy it at £20 today, then it could be worth spinning up a live chat and asking if they will refund the difference, given it was recent you could argue that you would return the old one and buy a new one instead, so saving them time and effort :)

the instructions couldn't be simpler. Order a £50 gift card, get a £10 code for free.

Done it myself.
Not quite that simple.

There is a button you need to press to qualify for the £10 voucher. If you didn't click that, you're not getting it.
